Just wondering if anyone here in South Florida has a Disney trip planned during Hurricane Irma? Right now, it looks like the storm might travel straight up through the center of the state :worried: How are you planning on handling the traffic?

We are debating heading up Saturday leaving like 3 AM and staying the weekend. Not sure where this thing gonna land but at least those hotels are safe. Cheaper then putting family on a plane.

We've got plans to head up on Friday and ride it out for about a week (if need be). We were home for Andrew, Jeanne, Frances, etc. and we just don't want to go through that again. Do you think traffic on Saturday will be open? We've never done anything like this before (and thanks for the reply!)

If you don't have hotel reservations, get them soon. Very soon. Thousands of people in south FL are having the same idea you are, and I know of some that are planning to head north tomorrow.

I think leaving Friday night/Saturday morning might be cutting it too close. The National Hurricane Center forecast shows the possibility of tropical storm force winds in south FL by Friday night.

Hope it is. Don't blame you, 3 big storms there. We would like to hold out to last day and know if it is hitting east or west. If west we will stay home, east we will jet to my folks place in Naples. If still unclear by Thursday night will probably book something and head up early Saturday. Again would arrive around 5:30 or 6. I would imagine roads shut down around noon or so in South Florida.

My parents live in Cape Coral and are heading north tomorrow morning. My mom booked a hotel in Forsyth, GA but said hotels are filling up quickly. Safe travels to everyone going north!
