Healthy Dining Initiative Expanding
Disney is continuing in its efforts to offer healthier dining options. By early 2008, trans-fats and hydrogenated oils will be eliminated from packaged food items, portion sizes will be adjusted and "family-sized" servings available. Some of the new food items will be raisins, granola bars, rice/soy cakes, raw almonds, dried fruit and nut mix, multi-grain pretzels, mixed nuts and multi-grain chips.
This is in addition to the previous changes which included the elimination of trans-fats from all Disney menu items, adding healthier dining choices and only using Disney characters/names on kid focused items which met the criteria established for limited calories, fats and sugar.
Seeing the newest "Healthy Disney" news about more nuts and fruit being available I got to thinking about being on the South Beach Diet. As we know it is not just a diet but a lifestyle change. Not sure how many other South Beachers we have out there but what do you do to stay on track? Where are your favorite places to eat while at Disneyworld? What are your favorite snacks?
