For those of you that have done
ABD South Africa and visited Victoria Falls before or after, how time do you need there? Thank you!
We absolutely loved our trip to Victoria Falls following the South Africa ABD. A truly magical place with the most amazing sunsets we have ever seen. We did 2 nights and barely got all we wanted to in. 2 nights is doable but I recommend 3 if possible, especially if you want to take a day Safari to Botswana.
We stayed 2 nights at the Royal Livingstone on the Zambia side (expensive but highly recommend). There are Giraffes, monkeys & Zebras walking around on the grounds. Booked directly online in advance.
Our Itinerary:
Stayed overnight at the Intercontinental JBurg on the last day of the ABD
Day 1:
11 AM flight from JBurg to Livingstone Zambia on Airlink
Late afternoon - Ultimate River Cruise with Livingstone Adventures. Booked through hotel concierge in advance via email. River Safari followed by a Sunset Cruise with seating on the Captain’s Cabin level
Dinner at hotel serenaded by a string quartet (think they played both nights)
Day 2:
Breakfast at hotel - fabulous buffet/a la cart included
AM flight of Angels helicopter tour. Booked through concierge in advance via email.
Devils Pool/Livingstone Island lunch. Booked directly online with Livingstone Island in advance. I was too chicken to go to the edge of the falls but my daughter & husband did. Once in a lifetime activity for sure. We went in late August - this activity is only available mid-August ish to January I believe.
Walked to Zambia side of Falls (National park entrance is on hotel property)
Sunset cocktails and dinner at hotel
Day 3:
Breakfast at hotel
AM visit to Zimbabwe side of Falls. Arranged RT car service/guide to help us through border with concierge day prior.
1:25 PM flight Livingstone to JBurg to on Airlink. PM flight to Newark
