Today was the start of the Disney portion of our trip. I had to make some exceptions to our traveling plans and bring in some Non-Disney aspects to satisfy mom and my precious. The cruise, beach, and shopping portions of our trip were out of the way. Now it was all Disney all the time for the next 6 days. I threw on channel 8 in our hotel and watched the top seven things to do at Disney for the one hundred and eighty third time. Secretly hoping that this time my new favourite television personality was going to lose her swimsuit on Summit Plummet. Once again I was sadly disappointed. Stupid kid friendly Disney programming. Anyhow, the wife and mom were showered and changed and ready to go. Today we had planned on a waterpark. The weather had turned to rain due to the aftermath of tropical depression Matt that was hovering in the Gulf, so our choice to see a water park was very timely.

Breakfast was up to me so I decided that we should eat close to Typhoon Lagoon. We settled on the Boardwalk and ended up going to the bakery there. The parking for non-resort guests is very challenging here as it is quite a hike from the public parking to the entrance for the Boardwalk. I dropped the ladies off at the front and took the car to the lot and sprinted back to meet at the bakery. It was very overcast but the rain was holding off as we enjoyed our fresh baked goodies and drank our coffee’s. UGH. Terrible terrible coffee again!

Sitting on the boardwalk, talking to loved ones and just enjoying the view was one of the highlights of this trip for me. I could live down there. We saw some kids laughing, smiling and just barely containing their sheer joy. It was so heartwarming. Then a bird crapped on me.

After changing, we entered the Typhoon Lagoon park and were pleasently surprised to see an empty parking lot and no parking fees. Once again I dropped the ladies off at the gate and then parked the car. We entered the park together and got ourselves a few pictures at the entrance before heading in and arranging a locker rental. Our first locker was faulty and it ended up eating our clothes. We had to call maintenance to come out and open it for us as it just was not going to co-operate. We got our stuff into a proper locker and kept a towel and coverups out as we toured the park looking for a place to set up base camp. We found one under a tree near the wave pool. My mom was really amazed at this thing. We spend a good hour riding the wave and laughing our butts off.

Up next, we went to the shark reef and I went first with my wife behind me. When I got out to the first rest area I turned around and they had bailed on me. Big babies. The shark reef was incredible. What a great attraction. Once I got done with it, we all took a ride on the big slide they have there. I thought my mom was going into cardiac arrest when we got to the bottom as she was really shaken. It turned out that her swimsuit was six inches deep in her butt and she was a bit uncomfortable from it.

At this point the rain started. We jumped on the lazy river and did a tour of it while the rain poured. We thought it might let up but it just would not. Buckets of the stuff were falling. We got off the river and my mom and my wife sought out some shelter. I ran off to do the three waterslides. Afterwards I met up with them and they were both complaining about the cold so we got our stuff and headed for the gate. We jumped in the car, cranked the heat and headed back to the hotel to change. Our day was thrown for a bit of a loop and I had nothing else planned until later that evening. I talked them into some resort touring so we spent the rest of the day sightseeing. We went to the Wilderness Lodge first and had some lunch at Whispering Canyon Café. My wife and I had natchos and my mom had the chili. Great food. The service here was fun too. The waitress kept shushing everyone whenever the phone rang. I made my serviette into a bandanna and pretended to gunfight the kids at the table beside us. I took a couple of rounds in the chest and slumped over in my sour cream to the delight of all the children. We got the waitress to snap some pics and then we were off. If you get the chance, you have to see this resort. It was awe-inspiring. We sat in front of the 80ft fireplace and warmed up and let our digestion catch up with us. One of the kids from lunch noticed me and threatened to call the sheriff so we had to mosey on.

Our next stop was the Grand Floridian. My mom and wife loved this place. We watched the orchestra play in the main lobby and rode the elevator and took some pictures on their incredible staircase. I went over to check the menu at Victoria and Alberts but they weren’t open. It was still raining pretty heavy so we just sat in the lobby for a bit and talked. After a bit we headed out and decided to tour one more resort. My mom wanted to see the Animal Kingdom Lodge so that is were we ended up. We walked around and admired the atmosphere but I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I was going to be. We went out to the savannah and looked at the giraffes and got a good show as they were just being fed. A cast member from South Africa was outside with us and he walked around with us giving us all kinds of neat feedback on the place. We were tiring rapidly, so we checked out the gift shop and then headed for the hotel.

It was getting near 7 PM when we had finished changing so we grabbed a quick snack and then headed out for the Boardwalk again. The weather had cleared up a bit and it was no longer raining as we got to Jellyrolls. It was pretty empty when we got there so we had the full attention of the two piano players. They banged out a couple of tunes and we had some drinks while we waited for the place to fill up. Before long the place had filled in and the joint was hopping. For anyone who has never been, this place is a gas. They take your requests on a napkin and can quite literally play anything you can think of. Including a great rendition of Sir Mix-A-Lots “Baby Got Back.” One table behind us was pretty tight by about 11PM and they thought that the players were their personal jukebox as they got pretty ignorant about them skipping over their requests. The bouncer kept warning them to behave but this one lady just would not get it. She kept jumping up on the stage area trying to get the players attention. The bouncer went on break and they brought out the heavyweight. I think I know where King Kong Bundy has gone. He left the WWF to go work at Jellyrolls. He immediately had everyones attention and the drunks settled down dramatically. I gave him a nod but I think he was too busy thinking of new ways to cook and eat people that he didn’t respond. After a great rendition of some old television themes, including Cheers and Gilligan’s Island, we decided to head for home. We got home and in bed before 1AM. Mom had to drive again. Did I tell you that I like blackouts?

GREAT REPORT! Keep them coming! Hopefully you'll be posting the next ones before I leave.:p

one of our best days on our last trip was just 3 hours spent at Typhoon Lagoon and one of my best memories was my DH saying just before taking off in the shark tank - what do you mean they are not behind glass!

I also absolutely love Jelly Rolls
