I´m in the midst of a very personal situation and have been doing a lot of soul searching lately. Contemplating a huge change that involves everyone in my family and weighing in all the pros and cons. I wish it didn´t have to be this hard, but it really has been a challenge. I feel that no matter what I choose someone will get hurt and for the first time ever in my life I feel like I´m in a loose-loose situation.
Still trying to figure out how to even just reach a decision, let alone how to make sure it´s the right one.

Those of you who have made extremely tough decisions in your lifetime, how did you know it was the right one? Was it even the right one in the end?

All pixie dust much appreciated...

I'm not sure we ever can be 100% certain our choices are the right ones. If we were, they wouldn't be difficult.

All you can do is make the best choice you can at the time with the information you have and be prepared for the consequences. Don't question your choice because once you have made it, it's done.

Sending lots of hugs and strength to you. I hope whatever is going on with you resolves for the best for all. :flower3:

Sometimes, you just have to take a leap of faith.

go forward with your heart. May you have peace.

have faith. and have a Talk with God. Yes, that is what helps me the most...
again May you have peace.

Try to think into the future of what the scenario(s) will be 6 months from now with any changes already completed.

Don't make any hasty decisions, but do make them. Sometimes it's harder to be between here and there because of uncertainties. Choose what will make you happy in the long run, not what you feel others want you to do.

Trust in God - pray - then make your decisions based on what you feel is right.

Personally, I would make a list of pro's and con's for each option. I would compare and try to decide based on fact.

Yet, sometimes that doesn't work and you just need to follow your heart. I don't think you will know right away if you're making the right decision- you might not know for a long time but if you follow your heart, it won't be wrong. I guess that sounds silly but I've found it to be so true.

If you are religious, praying always helps me.

OP, good luck. This is never, ever easy and can certainly keep you awake at night.

Good thoughts being sent your way!

First off there is nothing that is "right". So don't even put any stock into that line of thinking. That is what will make you go crazy and you will make mistakes trying to please everyone.

You will suffer reprecussions from any decision you make. It is just the natural order of things.

In my family we beat things to death with "what ifs" so we are pretty experienced with hashing it out.

Pro/Con list is a great way to start.:thumbsup2 Eventually once it is written down and then discussed with others (if needed), you can come to an decision.

In life, the easiest thing to do is nothing. Don't get caught in that trap. Take chances. Live. Take the bad with the good, but don't regret your decisions. Make them and then move forward...

Lots of good advise being offered here Freyja.

For me, my faith is my stronghold and in tough times I ask God to please show me the way and trust He will help me follow the right path.

I truly believe, if He leads you to it, He will lead you through it! :goodvibes

I am reminded of Footprints in the Sand ~

One night, a man dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
He noticed two sets of footprints.
However, during the saddest times of his life, there was only one set of footprints.
The man questioned the Lord about this.
“I don’t understand why when I needed you most, you would leave me.”
The Lord replied,
“During your times of suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you.”

Godspeed you and yours :flower3:

I am list maker. Write it down. Sometimes seeing it in black and white makes it clearer.
Why yes?
Why No?

:hug:hoping you find your decision and it's a good one. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect. Just good enough.

I usually do the pro and con thing and then I just go where my heart says I should anyway. It is very difficult sometimes but sometimes doing nothing is the worst thing to do even though it may be easier. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks to all of you! It was so good to get this off my chest as much as I can, and I already feel a tiny bit better. Trying to make a list of pros and cons for each and every possible scenario and also going to seek some professional help, along with getting help from friends and family.
