We'll be going to WDW at Easter (2007) and hope to stay at BCV in a 2 br for 6 nights beginning with Good Friday. I have ressies already for SSR but I hope to change them to BCV when I hit the 7 month window - actually "hope" is not the right word - more correctly I really have my heart set on BCV. But the closer I get to the 7 month mark the more I worry... DH keeps telling me not to make any promises to the kids until we're sure. And I know he's right so we keep telling them that we haven't decided yet on which resort. But for my own piece of mind, could anyone give me any idea as to how you think this will go. And I already decided that if I can't get BCV this year then maybe next year I'll try to trade points to get an 11 month ressie. But for now I was just really hoping that a 2 br wouldn't really be that tough to get since it is an awful lot of points for that time of year. And I'm ok with the idea of calling day by day to make the change - my calendar is marked!

Best wishes to you on getting your reservation.

I'm not sure how to word this well, but getting your "heart set" on a reservation like this is not a great approach to DVC. Going after a small resort like BCV during a high demand period when it's not your home resort is a challenge at best.

I'm not saying that you won't get the reservation you are looking for...just trying to prepare you that it might not come through for you. Hopefully, you will still have a great trip if it means staying at SSR.

I think your DH is giving you good advice. You've got a couple of months to go until you can try for BCV, so don't tear yourself up before then with worry. There's nothing you can do until the 7 month window, so just try to be happy in the knowledge that you'll be going to WDW and staying at a great DVC resort, no matter which one it is. That's probably a pretty tall order, but it's about all you can do right now.

Good luck on your switch. :)

Don't forget that when you call, if you can't get BCV, you can still waitlist. Make it an automatic one. Hopefully there wouldn't be a lot of members already waitlisted (members who could book before 7-months), and maybe you'll get in that way if nothing is available right away.

I have gotten BWV(I know you wanted BCV) during Easter...so yes it is possible. I would call the 1st day you can- and you might be suprised(I was at Christmas I was able to get BWV-standard view)...even if you can't get something at least you have SSR(which I have also done at Easter)- so you know you are going.
Good luck- I would do as your DH says wait to say where you are going until you get your ressies.
Last year I was able to get BCV at the 7 month mark, but we did not go at Easter.

Easter because it is so darn busy not to mention EXPENSIVE. is not a favorite with DVC members....

So I would think your chances would be good - yes even with BCV....

So be sure to come back and say if you got BCV or not at your 7 month time...

definitely get on the wait list if you don't.

I really think you have a good chance.

DVC by its own rules can't release any of the unused DVC villa until 60 days before.... the only ones that CRO would have is the 5% that DVC kepts plus any use to exchange and I don't think DVC follows exchanges for big holidays...

So I really think you may get it....

but boy that is a bunch of points..... I came up with 412 points for 6 nights....

I don't have that many points....

Even if this ends in disappointment, just remember you've got 12 extra years of it (membership, not disappointment).

Do you really think she'll have a problem with the Fri & Sat nights? I would think most of us would avoid them.

OP: If you do end up getting the weekend only I would book it & switch midstay over to SSR for the nights you couldn't get. (But I hope you do) :goodvibes

Almost every one of our DVC stays has included Friday and Saturday nights, and I can't say that we found the villas to be any less crowded on those nights versus the week nights. If it were really true that most people avoid the weekends, then Disney would have adjusted the point schedules as their goal is to even out resorts guests over the entire year, and for each day of the week.

If it truly happened, I think that at a minimum they would have come out with a differently skewed point schedule for every resort since OKW. Since it hasn't I'm assuming that most DVC owners aren't quite as savvy or worried about point stretching as many here. :)

Granny - you are forgetting that CRO can rent the unused villa at 60 days and less....

Floridian who want to stay a weekend.....

I think most DVCers only stay Sun-thurs.... now people who got use to staying a week with their other timeshare might still be staying a week....

but hey those times when I left on Friday at normal hours - I certainly was not the only one leaving....

(I generally leave early like 4 am and even then I am not the only one)

BCV weekends at peak are 106 points per night. I would think the odds of members using points during that particular time is low. Just a guess :)

Thanks for the optimism!!! And ordinarily I wouldn't have that many points either but last year our trip was a grand gathering with my parents on their dime  so I was able to bank alot!

And thanks to everyone for your thoughts -- I really appreciate it and I will be sure to post how it all turns out.

A couple of comments like this made me think that a poll is in order. The results are minimal at this point (only 20 votes) but I think you will be surprised that many people don't avoid them so stringently. Here's the poll link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1163936

My advice, for anyone with their heart set, is to find out if there is availabilty now and rent points from a BCV member. They may be willing to "trade" you a reservation (but I wouldn't expect a 1 for 1 trade) and you may be able to pay them by transfering points into their account. Might be worth a shot.

So happy for you. We tried 2 years ago to get into BWV or BCV at Easter.
We did not know we were going till about 3 months out and we waitlisted for both resorts. Needless to say we did not get either of those but we did get OKW. We own at BWV and BCV by the way. Had one of the best trips ever and came home and bought an add-on at OKW. Have reservations this year at OKW from Mar27--Apr7. We will be home for Easter by 2 days. Can't wait!!
Just a note we always book weekends because we would never like to repack. To much work when I'm on vacation.
