I know they are doing re-hab on some of the building. I am not sure if that included DVD players. I didn't see them in the list of things being replaced in the buildings.
So even if some have been upgraded the majority have not yet, so I would say bet on VCRs still.
I was there Labor Day in bldg 18 on cash. I've never been there before to compare but our room looked new, no paint smell though, but we still had VCRs.
I did buy my wife a small one at Wal-Mart for her birthday that is the size od a portable cd player around but maybe 6 inches tall. Looks like a discman on a pedestal. Believe it was called a PSYC. even has remote control. Definitely packable even for an airline carry on and was $129.
OH GREAT! Can't get a definite answer ... .building 47 is an older building I believe and it had a DVD? I'm on the phone right now with OKW and they are saying "VCR"s - but I'll have to bring both I guess ...... ???
Ron, not to doubt you, but are you talking about OKW? HOnestly, I was on hold for over 10 minutes, and talked with 3 different CM's that said -- "No DVD's" in any of the units! But I will take your word for it and I will bring a little bit of "both" !
Does anyone know if building 62 or 23 have gotten "DVD's in them yet????
A little off the subject, but we recently bought a portable DVD player for car and airplane travel. I assume since there are VCRs in the rooms that we should be able to hook up our player to the TV. I gather there is a video and audio connection for the VCR, but not sure. I'd rather not take videos AND DVD's. Any feedback on this?
In the 1 bedroon, yes, you will have a way to plug it in. In a Studio, don't count on it, most studio tv's have no video connectors. You will need to buy an inexpensive device called a 'rf modulator' that converts a video signal to Channel 3 for connections there.
We were in a 2BR in bldg 36 in August- we had a VCR but we were able to plug my laptop onto the jack in the back of the TV and play a DVD through the TV- last year we stayed in a n OKW studio and couldn't even move the TV to access the jacks- so I think it is catch as catch can....
