Sorry I can't attend your Friday afternoon wedding, but WHY ARE YOU MAD ABOUT IT?

Does this mean that I should probably re-think my wedding destination in the Canary Islands at 11a.m. on a Christmas Day. And do you think my "suggested" wedding gifts of a Ferrari and/or canary diamond a little much?:confused3

Maybe I should re-think this?;)

No, that would be fine. Just make sure that none of the married guests are able to bring their spouses, and be sure to pair them up with random strangers.

Hi Mac! Welcome back!

1) Jodi posted about a bride that became quite agitated at her because she couldn't make their Friday wedding.

2) That got turned into a heated discourse on Destination Weddings

3) Which then turned into a heated discourse on how much you should spend on gifts

4) Some were said to be part of an Universal clique

5) Then some discussion of strange wedding gifts (I think I am the guilty one in changing to that topic) :goodvibes

6) Some pretty funny stories intertwined in the thread

thanks homie !!

glad you got my back on this one.

still trying to find the posts for #4....i'll keep at it, the night is still young.

Haha! You have NOOOOO idea how many people asked me that since my brother got "ordained" to perform the ceremony! :rotfl: My mother actually wanted to see my legal marriage license from the State of Maine. (Not that she would be able to tell a legal license from a forgery ... but still!)

I promise .. next wedding, vow renewal .. you're there. And I'll even pay for your airfare!

and what about me.......

We're a clique now?

Why didn't anyone tell me?

Harumph.

i wanna join too....

what's the secret password?

To quote Groucho Marx:

"I would not join any club that would have someone like me as a member"

another winner:

"I've had a wonderful time, but this wasn't it"

where's Harpo when you need him? I'm off to A Day At The Races:banana:

remember the duck??

jodie, found the answer for #4 on page 9

you should invite all of the posters to come play on the chat thread ........

we can change the subject all the time and still know what we are talking about.

Wow - I can't believe this is up to page 16!!!

Here is my story:
My co-worker just got engaged and is planning a summer '08 wedding. She said she always wanted a beach wedding. Well - there are no beaches in West Virginia, so a destination wedding it is.

She did NOT expect many people to come, she just wanted immediate family. Well, all of her friends said they were going to go and take their vacation at the same time as her wedding. Since she really didn't want that many people there, she is now going to get married locally.:rotfl2:

I don't think I've ever heard of this one!!!

So, now the wedding is going to be 8/8/08 which is a Friday. The wedding will be at 6:30pm and the reception will be 30 minutes away. So, I'm guessing, we won't be having dinner until about 8-8:30 that night. This seems a little late for dinner, after working all day (8am-5pm).

Is this the new trend in weddings - we just had the cake and punch reception. And most weddings I've attended have been on Saturday afternoon at either 2pm or 4pm.

Anyway, just keeping the thread going.

Wow, that is a new one! She should work at my place .. only 2 people per work group are allowed vacation at the same time. So, that gave us the perfect excuse not to invite our coworkers! :goodvibes

I think Friday night weddings are becoming more popular because they're a lot cheaper than Saturday weddings and they don't book out as far in advance.

My other biggest gripe is when there is an inordinate amount of time between the ceremony and the reception. Usually, if the wedding is fair amount of time away from home and there are 3+ hours between the ceremony and reception, I'll skip the ceremony and just go right to the reception. I know, I'm an awful guest.
