Dson-in-law had the gallbladder function test done and everything came back fine.. GB is functioning perfectly.. For now, his pain is gone - hopefully never to return.. He's already had an endoscopy as well, so who knows what it could be? :confused3

It would be nice if it was just a "fluke", but he has some other digestive issues as well, so there's obviously something going on somewhere.. He was so hoping that this one test would tell the whole story - so he doesn't have to take time off from work for additional tests - but unfortunately that's not the case..

He had an appt. with the gasto today, but I don't know how he made out.. DGD got sick over the weekend while they were up here, so I didn't want to call and bother my DD while she was dealing with that, trying to get her a doctor's appt., etc..

It's scary when he complains about "pain" - or being "sick" - because he's just not a complainer.. I'm hoping the gastro had some other ideas today..

I hope that they can figure it out what it is soon, C.Ann!

I hope your DGD feels better too!

I don't know the whole story, but was he checked for diverticulitis?

DGD is feeling much better now, thanks.. As for her dad - he's feeling better too - for the most part - and the doctor seems to think that he really needs to change his diet in order to deal with his issues.. Since he's a fairly picky eater to begin with, he's not very receptive to that so I'm not really sure what he's going to do.. Men can be so hard-headed, know what I mean? :headache:

I don't know the whole story, but was he checked for diverticulitis?

I'm not sure if the doctor ordered any further tests or not.. I haven't had a chance to talk to my Dson-in-law yet - and they won't be up this weekend (they have a wedding to attend) - so I'll have to wait to get the "rest of the story" directly from him..

I do know that he's being terribly stubborn about accepting the fact that he's getting older, his metabolism is changing, and as people age, they sometimes have to adjust their diets or certain foods will create problems..

It will be interesting to see if he ends up with another bout of pain like that - and if he does, what he will do about it..

But the "up" side is that he's feeling fine right now..:thumbsup2

Time will tell on the rest..:rolleyes1

If he had a hida scan done for his gall bladder, sometimes you have to have two or three done before it shows something. DD10 had her gall bladder removed almost two years ago. Her first hida scan came back normal. She had a bunch of other tests and after a colonoscopy came back normal, her doctor had her get another hida scan. This time it showed that her gall bladder was performing at 33% of what it should have been. When she had it removed, the surgeon said it was shriveled up and black. I was in the room when she had the hida scan and I noticed that the second test looked different than the first. I figured if I could tell a difference and I didn't know what I was looking at, something was going on. I have since heard from many people that they have had three and four hida scans before it showed anything. So, it may be worth taking another hida scan if they can't find anything and the pain continues. I hope they find it. That abdominal pain is miserable!
