Okay I just made a offer on a contract with a different UY. I know that if I make a ressie say for THV at 11 month mark and need to use both contracts for my week stay that I have to book several nights with 1 contract (A) and the the other nights with the other contract (B) (cannot combine points for 1 night). My question is when I call right at the 11 month window will MS LET me book my whole week with using both contracts (contract A for the 1st 4 nights and contract B for the last 3 nights) OR will I have to call back for the last 3 nights?

If they are separate master contracts it will be treated as two different reservations and you'll have to call back. You could transfer points and they might let you transfer even banked/borrowed points in this situation.

No, you will not be able to book the entire trip. Your contracts will be two different memberships and thus the reservations will be under different reservation numbers and will then have to be linked.

It would be like you booking a reservation and me booking a reservation. If I had to book the 2nd part, I would have to wait until the 11 month window opened up.

The only way to avoid this is to transfer between the two. But I have recently read that MS is very liberal in allowing owners of two different contracts to transfer between the two more than once per UY.

You will have to figure out how and when to transfer points between the two contracts. Which way you shift the point will depend on which contract works better for you, based on the time of year you want to travel. Once you transfer the points, you cannot move them back. The transferred points will maintain the same UY restrictions once they are moved to the other contract, so watch the banking deadlines. We have a contract pending ROFR for a small number of points with a different UY than our other points at the same home resort. My head is already spinning while I try to figure out how to shift the points and bank them for future use. Excel may come in handy here! I would have spent more time shopping for a resale with the same UY, but I wanted to avoid the 3/20/11 restrictions.

You should ultimately be able to figure out how to use all of the points for the same ressie at the 11 month mark if they are for the same home resort. It is all in the transferring and banking. . .

You should try to book the entire week on the first call. Many have reported that DVC is willing to "relax" the one per use year transfer rule if the different membership contracts are owned by the same person. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Of course, I assume that both contracts are for THV. If not, you couldn't use the non-THV contract until the 7 month window. But you already know that, LOL.

Yes both contracts are for THV, in the future it will not be a problem I don't think. I want to book for Feb 2012 and I banked all 2010 (160 points) of our current contract so I will have plenty to do 5 or 6 nights (split stay with 5 nights at BLT with our BLT points) BUT the new contract we are purchasing is a 130 point contract Oct UY and is coming with 260 points woohoo! I love having points to burn! I obviously would want to use all 2010 banked points from both contracts on the 2012 ressie but not if it is going to jepordize the ressie. I will see in about a week and half what MS has to stay!

Thanks for the advice!

Oh yea 1 more thing - what do you think my chances are to book THV arriving the Monday of presidents week for 5 nights? I really wanted to do BLT from the Wed before until Monday and do the "park thing" with my college kids then move over when they leave and relax the rest of the week at the THV. I think I may have a better chance booking the THV 1st! Decisions, decisions!
