Hi,

Is there an advantage to buying the Kindle Fire on amazon.com as opposed to getting it at say Walmart or Radio Shack? It seems its $199 at all places. Do you still get the 1 free month of Amazon Prime if you go purchase in a store like Walmart instead of Amazon.com?

Many thanks,
Shelly :)

Amazon equals to no tax in most states. That is a big saving. The free month is with every purchase does not matter where you got it from.

For me if I buy from Amazon and there is some defect or I return it they make returns very easy. Some electronic stores charge restocking fee for electronics.

Thanks! :)

I was just getting excited thinking about buying a Kindle Fire and thought why not get it today than order it at Amazon.com and have to wait for it to arrive. I thought there might be a catch as to why not buy today instore. Tax is a good reason!! :) Thanks! :)

My husband and I had this same conversation when he wanted to buy me a Kindle for my birthday. He ended up getting it from Staples because he had a coupon for $10 off his purchase and had rewards dollars that he could use as well. He ended up getting the $79 Kindle for about $60 plus tax so that was worth paying tax on.

If you don't have any coupons or rewards money I'd say get it on Amazon so you won't have to pay tax. :)
