We have never played Sorcerers, but I thought we might like to one afternoon of our trip. I have read about it, but am still a little confused. How difficult is it? Does it matter what cards you play? How many cards do I need (should I pick up some on an earlier MK day)? Thanks for any help.

I am not sure of you particular questions...except to say that my 10 year old son became obsessed with it last summer. we were there for 2 weeks and he played probably 5 times. He would get a new set of cards each time and just mix them all together. I think he got about 5-10 cards each time. I saw both kids and adults playing.

You can pick up the packs of cards at the firehouse on your way into MK and then hold onto them until you're ready to play. IIRC, they ask you which land you want to start in so you can plan ahead. Each pack has 7 cards and each person in your group can get 1 pack per day in MK.

It's not difficult at all. I'm sure there is some strategy as to which card to use against particular villains but my DD just picked what she wanted and was fine.

It's very fun but can be time consuming. We are planning to play on our arrival day since it's a low key day with few expectations.

HTH!

The easy level is pretty easy. The cards you use don't matter at all for it. Our DS loves it. He doesn't really even understand how to play it. If you look around, you will find that at the medium and hard levels, the cards actually matter. We have a ton of cards from visits and friends. However, DS usually still plays whatever card he wants and has a great time.

You can also link all of your family members so that everyone can play. By linking everyone to one band/plastic key to the world, everyone can play together at the same portals. We took turns where one person played each portal or each battle at the portal. Each member of the group can get a pack of cards this way, and you can share cards. You can pick up a new pack of cards every day you visit MK. Also, if you plan to visit again and want to keep your current position/level, remember which band you put the game on. The game is not linked to MDE, so you have to use the same band. We put is on DS BB8 band, because that one is really easy to remember.

Strategy and cards used will matter based on the level you are playing. Easy level? Doesn't matter. No strategy other than to follow the directions, and any card will work. Medium you can start to level up cards causing them to be more powerful, and when you get through to hard, some cards will have better results against certain villains. And you can use them in combo to get different results. But starting off, just follow the directions Merlin gives you and have fun, it's really not hard at all.

We played for the first time ever on our annual trip last year. I expected my then 9 and 7 year old boys to love it. But the game had us standing still in direct sunlight for a long time at each stop and they quickly decided it wasn't worth it. Really wish the areas were better shaded. I've asked if we can play again this year and they said only if we play at night! But to answer your questions, at the easy level it is just that--easy!

I have finished the 1st level. It takes time, about 10 locations, lines could get long waiting for your turn. I would play in the morning. Any cards work on the 1st level.

The level you start at, easy, can be completed by using the same card over and over if you wanted to. The only reason for switching cards up is to see how new cards look on screen. Once you beat the easy level, by finding 20ish portals, you can start the whole thing again on a higher difficulty where you will need to actually use different cards to beat each portal. So no you don't need to get any other cards besides the first pack you get, but if you're ever at MK you should head to the firehouse since everyone in your party gets a pack that can be given to the person who is actually playing. If they like the game they will definitely want to collect the cards.

We love this game. We are a mature couple (old) and we played a few portals in between rides for several days, finally beating the first level. There are some serious players out there. One little kid had a whole binder full of cards and would ask if we wanted to trade. We traded cards with several people at the portals, it made it even more fun. There were people of all ages playing and it gives you a whole new perspective of the park. I would have never known these things existed until we discovered it. It's just really cool!
