My boys (ages 7 and 9) played this last year and we were told we can continue our game the next time we go. Are we able to pick up where we left off (and if so, do we need to bring the "old" Magic Band that we used for the game last year)? If not we can at least use the cards we received last year, correct?
Any other tips? If it helps, we are going back exactly one year later.
THANKS!

You can definitely reuse the spell cards you got from previous trips. And you can try to resume your old game. Your old magic bands or the old key card should let you resume. One caveat, I've been told that the games only last for so long, so if this is the case there is a chance they would need to start over again. I needed to restart this last trip, went from having half the medium difficulty rounds done back to easy.

The cards can definitely be used. Bring the magic band used for the key to resume your game and you should be OK to continue. This is a great game and we sometimes go just to play and arrange fast passes around playing in a way. There are several FB groups for this game. My whole family is addicted. Message me with any questions.

Did you ask them to bump you back to medium? We had a ton of cards from a friend, so the first time DS played, we asked them to bump him to medium. The easy level would have been incredibly boring for him too. One CM kind of balked, but the other one was sure. The easy level is really meant for little kids.

One caveat for starting at medium is that your cards will not have the power they earned from previous levels - so you will be starting with low power cards on a higher level. It can get frustrating when it takes multiple tries to beat a single enemy because the cards are too weak

Now I'm confused. LOL. Can someone break it down for me? Our last trip ended October 8, 2015. We will be at the park Oct 4-7 this year so it won't even have been a year since we left. I just take my son's old MB that we used last year, all the cards we had from last year, and go to the booth? They will give us each 5 new cards (5 per MB) and they can pick up where they left off in the game? Anything I'm missing? I didn't play with them so I'm clueless, but apparently this is really important to find out ahead of time... they can't stop talking about it. :)

I did, and the CM said they couldn't do that. Was a bit surprised, but guess I should have just asked a different CM.

Bring all your old cards definitely. You would ask if the old game (on your Magic Bands/key card) is still good, and if so they would let you start where they left off. If the old game isn't good they would need to start a new one back at easy. Yes, everyone playing would still get 5 new spell cards per day as long as they are all there when you check in.

Before you can get new cards you will have to open the next portal from where you left off. If you don't know which one that is, go to the Fire House with the key holder's MB and it will show which is the next one.

If the game is still valid you can actually try to play at any portal, and if its the wrong one it will show you where you need to go. May or may not be faster than going to the fire house depending on where you are in the park and what the lines are like.

I thought the cards didn't gain any power from the easy level, since any single card will defeat the enemy. I could be wrong though. DS didn't care though. He's too young to be really competitive with it.

The "benefit" to doing it at the Fire House when they come into the park would be if the next portal is in say Frontierland, we can reset the "next" portal to one close by, say the Emporium or a Main St. location so they would not have to go all the way to Frontierland and then come all the way back to the Fire House to get cards. Just a matter of where the next portal to play is located.

Since the Christmas Shoppe terminal got shut down if your next portal happens to be all the way in the back of the park the Fire House is a bit of a hike just to come back to get more cards.

You should be fine. A game will save for 18 months and will pick up where you left off. Your new magic bands will work as well, I would just go to the Firehouse before you start playing just to make sure and to pick up your new card packs. Have fun!

Is this a change? In the past we have been told it has to be the exact same magic band and since that magic band got left at home we had to start over. Here now and haven't tried yet... If/when we do, I'll report back!

Has to be the MB or plastic ticket that was originally used to start the game. Can be changed to a newer one but the old one has to be used to unlock the game.

We were there last month and we were able to pick up the old game with the new bands. However, they did need to link the new bands to the existing game.

Yes they could, but I wouldn't find a benefit in doing this more than the number of times there are Main Street villains. I don't remember how many Main Street had, but I don't recall it being more than 2. So for most of the times you would need to trek to the other end of the park anyway.
