Son was bitten by a dog

Slightly off topic. But below is a picture from my recent October trip. Quite possibly the coolest service pup I have ever seen. Taken outside Spaceship Earth.

(I politely asked the owner permission to snap a photo of his service animal. He said sure because she loves the attention!)

She looks like she loves having her photo taken! And I’ll bet she doesn’t growl or snap at strangers….

Glad ur little one was not hurt OP. I’d definitely have reported it. The owners clearly knew they had an Issue since u saw them clamping their dogs mouth closed afterwards. Just awful… for the dog and all the unknowing people who should Not have to worry about having their family member injured/bit/scraped/traumatized by a dog.. especially one that likely should not be in the park in the first place. What a lawsuit..
By the way… any break/abrasion/contusion from Any dog should be documented and seen by a medical professional. Lots of germs in those mouths!

Wow! Thanks for everyone’s comments and opinions. I did email Disney the other night but I’m going to email again to the address one of you posted here.

nothing back from the first email.

I think even emotional support animals should have to have some kind of training and identification (vest). Just my opinion.

As others have said, it has become too easy to buy an online "service animal" vest. As a business owner, it is nearly impossible to not let in an animal when they claim it is a service animal, even when it very clearly is not.
As others have said, a trained service animal is amazing to watch. They are one of the most highly trained you will see. Barking and biting someone would never happen.

Service dogs are not required to wear vests. However, service dogs also are usually trained to be passive and do not approach and bite people. at any rate, anyone can purchase a vest online and slap it on their pet. If a service dog bites someone it could be removed from the park.

Not sure what Disney's current policy is on the admission of emotional support animals, which are untrained pets whose presence is prescribed by a health care provider to assist the owner with a mental health condition. ADA does not require a business to admit emotional support animals, but one may do so if it wishes.

In Florida, it is a misdemeanor to pass off your untrained pet as a service animal.

Thread moving to community board as this is now a discussion thread re: service dogs, not on topic about what actually happened and how OP could address their particular situation.

Not much will happen from reporting it to Disney now. If the owner says it's a service dog, they have to allow it in. They can't stop doing that because of the report. Had the OP reported it at the time, the owner would have been told to remove the animal from the park.
