Something special to do 11 yr old DS? Suggestions?

I'm the crazy person taking down a group of my MS students (yea! for craziness!!) Anyway, my 11 yr old DS is going on the trip and I would like to do something special just him and I...something for just around 2 hours or so (don't have a lot of time w/o chaperoning responsibilities, but other chaperones/parents said they wouldn't mind covering for me for this!). I want something besides a TS or character meal. He wouldn't be into those 12 and under activities like the tea party of GF pirate cruise....just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for something to do that would be really memorable for the two of us?

oooooooohhhhhh....that giftsofalifetime is awesome!!! This time I was really looking for something more for him and I to spend time together.....this trip he will be running around with the other kids and I want some way to make him slow down and want to spend a few hours with MOM!! I'm thinking to book a cruise...and share it with others...strangers...not those in my group that would distract us from 'our time'. If I invited my students it wouldn't be something truly ours. Mini gold does sound kewl..and it wouldn't be expensive...maybe do that then some ice cream!

If he is in to Legos, you could take him to the Lego shop in DTD, though you will probably end up sitting by yourself while he builds things. Why not just ask him where he would like to go? My DS loves when he gets to choose what we are going to do. Plus, I think it teaches them compromise. You agree to do what he wants for two hours and then later he is more willing to do the things you want to do.

Are you looking for things to do in the parks or outside of the parks?

We figured it out! We are going to go get messages! It is something that we will both enjoy. So now we need to decide where. I would like to enjoy a nice lunch after so that will help us decide
