My engineering friend here at UF did his internship at the MK (he even had an office in the tunnels!) and has a bunch of free park hopper passes left. He is taking 6 of us for free on Saturday! He also gets 50% off EVERYTHING!

He also got paid something like $25 an hour for being an intern!

I got the scoop on SM renovations, the Obama head for HOP, and some other tid bits that I don't remember. Maybe he will fill me in on some more secrets Saturday!

Well not trains he is in mechanical engineering. While he was there he got to ride in the floats for the parades, work on SM, and other mechanical type things. He said the refurb they are doing for SM will not be like the one at DL. They are just up grading the track because how it is now makes it dangerous.

If he tells me anything cool this weekend I will let you all know! He knows that I am a Disney freak so he said he would try and tell me some behind the scenes stuff

My son will be heading off to college in the fall, to major in mechanical engineering, too. He's planning on going to the University of Pittsburgh to be close to home, but with the perks of interships like the one your friend got--maybe I should tell him to consider UF

I am back everyone

I will update later with more because I have a bunch of studying to do.

For you son, at UF the engineer students are HIGHLY suggested to get internships, although it is not a requirement for graduation. UF has these big career fairs just for the engineering students to find internships. I have 5 engineering friends here at UF and all of them have done internships making AT LEAST $24 an hour. Most of them go out of state for them (one in Texas, Arizona, Missouri, DISNEY, don't remember the other places). My friend did not get the Disney one because he was a UF student, they had people at the fair from Disney. So for your son in a couple years when he thinks about interning might have Disney reps up there. I know the internships are very competitive, it's like applying for a job!

BUT of course I would HIGHLY recommend the University of Florida to anyone

Well I am back! been back, no time to update here

We had a great time! We ended up not being able to go for free when my friend was doing his internship last semester they put him as a CM in the system until 12/31/2009 on accident and he thought they had not caught the mistake... well they did

but it all worked out because my entire group decided to get the FL resident 3 day park hopper so that means we get to go back 2 more times

I did learn a secret that Pirates is haunted. He said that the last person who leaves has to say "good night bob" or else the ride will break down the next day. I guess Bob was a CM who died. I guess take the story with a grain of salt

My friend got to create a hidden mickey on Haunted Mansion. As you go through the dinning room look at the last place setting on the left and you will see the plates arranged as a mickey head

On Splash Mountain the guy that pops out of the ceiling before the big drop says "FSU" the creator or person who did it is an FSU alum

hmm maybe I will think of some more later

No, i didn't see the new parade we did 3 parks in one day and the boys didn't want to stop for parades, or shows, or classic rides, hmmm
