Hello - many of us Disers/DVCers have been back to the World quite often so I thought this would be a good place to ask: do you try to do something new every time (onsite or offsite)? What was the one thing you did that you would recommend? Just looking for some new & interesting things to try during our next visit in April. Thanks everyone! :goodvibes

If you are 16 and over, the Segway tour of Epcot is fun!
If you like to fish you can do the Bass fishing excursion $295 +/- for 5 people, all inclusive.
The Illumination cruise is great fun, you can have 10 passenger, I think it's $295 plus Captains tip!
We did the Petty driving experience once, I was disapointed because we don't get to drive the car!
We've done archery over at Wilderness Lodge!

Can you tell we've been to Disney quite often!

Wishes Dessert party. We did that July 3rd...what a great view of the fireworks and great desserts and the fact that we could sit for the wait time without being out in the crowd was truly priceless!

The Pirates and Friends fireworks boat excursion from the Contemporary is also something we all loved doing. DH and I have done it twice and we would do it again!

The one place we like to eat offsite is Girordanos....we enjoy a stuffed pizza like that once a year or so. It's not our usual kind of pizza and theirs is very tasty!

Love Giordanos's as well but we have it delivered to the villa! As we all know Disney pizza is a huge disapointment! The kids like the regular cheese pizza they have as well.

When we go to WDW without the kids we are lesser park warriors, so we do some different things. We enjoy a beer at the Victoria Falls lounge at AKV. We make the time to listen to the evening storytellling at the AKV firepit.

We sit in the lobby at VWL and look up. We rented bikes and rode over to Fort Wilderness for the buffet lunch at Trail's End. We rented the Sea Sprites (Water Mice) for a half hour (also do this with the kids) at VWL and zoomed all over Bay Lake, by Poly, the wedding pavilion, etc.

We take the time at Epcot to sit and watch the fountain shows (which DH loves). At MK, we went over to Tom Sawyer island on a gorgeous day when we were really tired and rocked in the rocking chairs for a most welcome and recuperative half hour rest. Then we raced over the barrel bridge several times because there was no one else there!

Though we don't always do something "new" each time, we try to rotate things we do so they stay fresh and fun!

My DH LOVED the Richard Petty Driving expereince but then again he did the rookie experience and was able to drive the actual race car. He had to attend a class, got a certificate with his lap times on it and a picture.

Customized treasure hunt in Magic Kingdom, arranged through the company, Gifts of a Lifetime. I've been a regular Disney visitor for 40 years and this is the single best experience I've ever had.

DW and I have done multiple different things at Disney that do not include the parks. Some of them are:
Play tennis.
Take a bike ride around Fort Wilderness campground.
Take a boat ride from DTD to Dixie Landings and back.(I do not call it Port Orleans, will always be a different resort to me)
Take a couple of golf clubs and balls, chip and putt around the putting green at one of the golf clubs.
Tour the other resorts.
Pool hop.
Tour DTD.
Have an after dinner whirlpool.
Listen to the musicians at GF Lobby, Port Orleans and/or Dixie Landings Lounges, or over in front of the House of Blues.
Sit out by one of the quite pools and enjoy a drink.
Take in a movie.

Visit the Horse Museum at FW

The Train Tour at MK is Great!

Buy the Hidden Mickey Book and use it to pass the time when in a queue

Don't Miss "Finding Nemo" or "The Lion King" at AK

Find DeVine at AK (really cool!)

Find the 5 legged goat

We have done most of the backstage type tours (some of them more than twice), and all the Segway tours (some of them more than twice). We have not done the non-Disney Segway tour of Celebration, so we are going to try and do that our next trip. There are plenty of non-park things to do at Disney, but we do indeed still go to the parks every day. I should mention that we have been DVC members for over 13 years and have been going to Disney on a regular basis for more than 25 years.

My family likes to do at least one or two offsite things during our WDW visits. Some of our favorites include:
Cocoa Beach
Kennedy Space Center
Orlando Premium Outlets

If you enjoy golf, Kissimmee Golf Club is a really neat course located right next to the Kissimmee Airport. We saw at least 50 planes land or take off during our first 9 holes.

Also, my family had an absolute blast on our 4-day Disney Cruise this past March!

We haven't done Universal or Seaworld yet because my son hasn't been tall enough to ride the larger rides. We will probably try one of them during our 2011 trip.

We like to try a different restaurant and drink each trip. The winners our last trip were The Brown Derby at HS and a Bailey's Shake at Raglan Road in Downtown Disney.

Find the 5 legged goat

Finding the 5 legged goat was pretty tricky but we finally found it. :goodvibes

We just got back and went to Seaworld for a day-it's been a long, long time since we were there. I have to say we were really disappointed, so do some research on it before you go. Might just be the age of our kids-15, 14 and 10.

The shows aren't what they used to be, maybe because of the recent tragedy. But the Shamu show was 15 minutes long. This included a video of the new calf. The whales swam around and splashed, and did a few small jumps. The other shows were about as long. Most were cute, but wouldn't wait around for them like we did.

They have a pool of dolphin you can see and touch, and feed if you pay an extra $7. However...they have a trainer who continuously blows the whistle to call back the few who wander to the unpaid side back to where the paid customers are. DH10 (who lacks volume control on his voice) complained that was something Disney would never do! :rotfl2:

DH and kids loved the 2 coasters, but I don't think it was worth the $.

I noticed AKV in your signature-this last time I experienced two activities at AKL that I'd never done before. One was the jewelry making activity at Simba's Cubhouse on Tuesday and Saturday between 10:00am and 1:00 pm. It's only for ages 13+. Whatever you make is charged by the inch. My necklace cost about $26.

The other activity is also at Simba's Cubhouse for all ages-ceramics painting. There's a wide variety of things you can paint, and I thought the prices were very reasonable-

Simba's Mom - WOW both those activities look fantastic! Thanks for including the pictures as well. Definitely on my "to do list" now! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone for your great ideas - keep 'em coming! :goodvibes

We also try to enjoy something new every trip, since we go a few times a year. Some favorites:
Fantasia Gardens mini golf (watch our for Chernabog!):yay:
Behind the Seeds tour:hippie:
If you are there at the right time, look for a 5K to run!:cheer2:

We are going tomorrow
