Something I learned about non-closed contracts

I learned something new last week from MS. We added on at VB and a new contract at SSR (both Dec 03 UY), and then I was making some ressies for our May trip - was booking 2 nights at AKL (Deluxe Savanna View) and I was not able to use our non-closed contracts for exchange into the Disney Collection.

I did not know we could not use non-closed contracts for exchange. It was no big deal as we just banked the 03 points from SSR and borrowed 04 points from our BCV contract.

I guess it makes sense that they do not allow non-closed exchange as it would probably really muck things up if the contracts did not close

I wanted to make final payment on my purchase at SSR but they also would not accept it until the contract was finalized!

That's a first, Disney did not want my money!LOL

How did you get DEc 03 use year for SSR??? Could that be DEC 04 use yr?

You also cannot transfer your non-closed contract points to another member until your contract is closed. Found that one out 2 weeks ago.

We have a December use year beginning 12/03. We bought SSR in September 03.

but, you can make ressies at the dvc resorts before your contract is closed

when we bought our dvc ( paid cash)we were staying at the wl, but didnt do the tour of dvc until the last day of our vacation, our guide had said, you could use your last years points for this stay. but our vacation was already paid for before we even got down there, we said, no, will just bank those points.

We have Dec03 UY at SSR - unit #2B - could not use the points to book anything before May 17th (resort opening) though

For sure we made ressies on the points before closing

Like the post on Disney not taking payment before closing - too funny

WDWSTAR-not only can you book before you close but you can actually spend them, current, banked, and borrowed all at the same time BEFORE you close,and have nothing left available by the time you close.


I'm dying for another add-on. It's killing me every time I see a waitlist come thru. They are so painless and easy. And I need a vacation.

you dont have to tell me, i just booked a family reunion of course during christmas 2004 for our whole family and we had to use our banked current and borrowed points, now if i want to go next year i can either stick with the borrowing routine, or pay cash, maybe a dc on cash next year.
