Something I am curious about regarding the new Frozen ride...

Is the waterfall that was visible from the outside of Maelstrom still there?

Can you still see it? Or is it gone?

Sorry - it's gone - at least for now. I thought I read somewhere that the water system for the "waterfall" was separate from the water source for the ride, so I was kind of surprised it wasn't kept in some form. But it was sure dry as a bone when I was there about a week ago.

In videos I just saw of FEA, it doesn't appear that the boats change direction. That made me wonder if the waterfall is gone now for that reason.

The boats travel the exact same track , in the exact same way. The boats switch from forward motion to the backward portion at Elsa, down to where the boat has to re-align for the drop, where it then goes forward through the drop. But there is no opening to the outdoors there anymore. I think you could occasionally see a splash from the boats, but the waterfall ran all the time, whether there was a boat at the opening or not.

Are you referring to the rocks and waterfall outside the ride building, to the left? It's still there.

Yes, the outside waterfall is there, but closed up inside. You still switch backwards just as you did before on the old ride, you just no longer think you are going over the falls.

Yes, the rocks and waterfall are still there, but the opening has been filled in. These photos are not exactly from the same place and distance, but they do show the closing in of the opening.
When I first saw the pictures of the new facade, I thought it looked totally different. Seeing the before-Frozen side by side with the after-Frozen, it's amazing how much of the facade is the same, Just with new colors.

When I was a kid, I thought the coolest thing in Epcot was how the boats would appear over the waterfall outside of the ride! While I'll miss that aspect, it makes me happy to know the waterfall is still going even with the hole plugged up. I hope they keep up with the facade.

Glad to hear the waterfall is up and running. Ironic that it was down but the ride was OK when I was there . . . .I like to see water features in the parks, and wish some areas had more of them!

We loved the trolls, and quoting them is one of our WDW things. I am faily certain, no matter how they re-theme that area, we'll always recall the old script.
