Someone withdrew $400 from my bank account!

This is why when we go out to eat my dh makes sure the wait person sees him take his card out of his wallet because his badge is in full view when he opens it....that way maybe they will think before they skim ours.We live in a huge college town and they have had many many busts on skimming but ours has never been taken!

I had the same thing happen to me in September in the same area! We had been in Toronto for a long weekend and I only used my debit card one time, at one of the gift shops at the Toronto Airport AFTER going through security when we were heading home. 3 weeks later I got a call from my bank that there was a suspicious transaction on my account so they froze it, someone had withdrawn $500 in Concord, Ontario and they tried to get more later as well. Apparently there is a card reader that can be put on machines and then they can make a copy and they put in a little camera to steal your pin, I was told by a friend that when I put my pin # in to put one of my hands over the one typing to conceal what I am pushing in so I do that now just in case.

There was a story just yesterday in the Minneapolis paper about a local bar/restaurant who had their system hacked and compromised 1000's of credit cards. Somehow they got into the POS computer system vs lifting numbers off the cards from what it sounds like.
