I have heard rumors that they have changed the way baby swap is done at the attracitons with height requirements.

If you USED baby swap during your recent trip. Could you please tell me how they did it at any of the attractions you rode?

Thanks

If the ride is a fast pass ride, the CM will actually give you a fastpass. One would wait while the first went on, then you'd switch and the other would go into the fast pass line. With those attractions with no fast pass I'm not sure how they work it. The thing is, most of the attractions that have height restrictions ARE fast pass ones so there you go.

The fast pass thing really stinks, too, because sometimes the fast pass line can take 20 minutes.

When we were at WDW in Sept, Dec, and at Easter, we only had to wait once with babyswap,
on Rock in roll Roller Coaster. We got two fastpasses and after several Cm's playing the go over there and ask him/her game, it was decided that we had to go throught the fastpass line. Which, by the way, was extremely short, just had to watch the Holographic video thingie. As far as other rides, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Star Tours, Dinosaur, we swapped at the exit. We did make sure to let the Cm know we were doing babyswap at the entrance, and they sent us to the exit to wait. I also made sure to tell the Cm at the exit, I didn't want anyone to think I was tryng to sneak in without waiting in line. Hope this helps.

we did baby swap on Splash Mountain, and were given a Fast Pass, and they have a lovely covered playarea where the kids can play while you are waiting - the FP line was very short, but it's a long walk just to get to the ride at Splash Mountain!

We did a lot of baby swaps at Universal/IOA and they all seemed to have a waiting room for you to sit in, which was nice - rather than just hanging around the exit

Myself, DH, DS (about 4 months old by then), DM, DD, and DS are all going in Feb. What I wanted to know is that will they let us do the baby swap with that many people? For example, my parents and sister go on first, then they take baby, and my husband and I can go on. I know that with fast pass rides we can do that on our own bacause you have the one hour time frame, but what about rides without it. I wouldn't even mind if everyone had to wait in the line and then do it. Has anyone had any experience with this?

my understanding is that any number can do this, you all wait in line together and then swap- I think the 3rd person can even ride twice.

From what I understand (a CM posted on another thread) the Baby Swap has changed recently so that all the rides which use Fast Pass (including Splash Mountain) use the fast pass method of baby swap.

Also, when we've done baby swap in the past, both of my big kids have gotten to ride twice in a row (once with me and once with Grandma.) I'm not sure how many people can do this, though. We'll be at MK in September with 3 adults and 7 kids, 2 of whom will be swapped. I kind of doubt that they'll let all of the other 5 ride the 2nd time, but it's worth a try!

A few more questions...

I'm presuming you are given a fast pass wich allows you to get into the fast pass line immediately?

In a way this kind of sucks if the FP line is long and you have already waited 1/2 hour to ride.

And ... we have one child that is big enough to ride. Will they give him a fastpass also so he can ride twice and the other parent does not have to ride alone?

Sometimes the changes that disney makes really urk me. I mean ... if I have waited 1/2 hour for a ride ... why should I have to get into another line?

Petty .. I know .... but when you have limited time the whole FP thing could make the ride take twice as long for both parents to get through.

It used to be that when baby-swapping at SM, you went into the wait line and got to the boarding area. Then one parent waited with the child at the door to the chicken exit, and the other was shown the way back to the load area from the end of the ride; they switched, and the second parent rode, while the first took the child out through the chicken exit route. The advantage to this was that you got to do the walk-through and see the ride through the window, and watching the loading distracted the toddler.

Now the swap takes place at the end of the ride exit ramp, in the d**n video arcade!!! This makes me absolutely furious; we have a family rule against video arcades, and I nearly went insane trying to control my 3 yo in an arcade area for 30 minutes. I never did ride the ride; I just wanted out of there ASAP!

We used the baby swap in May on a couple of things (boy did my 4 y.o. hate the name of it!). We had 3 DS's, myself, DH and the MIL. It worked a little differently from ride to ride. Sometimes they had us all go in line together up to the loading area, then 1 adult and little DS stepped off to the side, others rode. Then 1 other adult switched places with the one originally left out, and the whole party rode again. Some rides unload in a different place, so they had the non-riders step out of line and hook up at the off-loading point.

Your best bet is to ask the first CM you meet and keep asking as you progress through the waiting area.

Hi everyone! Could someone please explain the baby swap for me? We've never used it before. This year it will be my DH, DS8,DS7,DD6,DD6,DS1 and myself. All but the 1 year old is tall enough for space mountain. Do we all go into line and once we get there tell the CM about the baby swap or do we tell the CM outside? Would they let the clan ride again when I go to ride on the swap?

JKW - read my prior post directly above yours. Pay special attention to the 2nd paragraph.

Please note that I have found out that the policy of baby swap has changed!

This information came from a CM.

You now go to the fast pass enterance to get a baby-swap fast pass when the rest of your party gets in line. This pass is good for two people.

The child who is too small for the ride is no longer supposed to go through the line. I have been told this is for saftey reasons.

The thread is located on the thrills and attractions board.

I just want to make sure that everyone has the correct information and I thank all those who responded to my question.

The baby swap pass is only good for 2 people?!? So if I have two kids, only one of them can ride the second time with my mom? How am I supposed to tell one kid that s/he has to wait for 20 minutes while the other one goes through the "fast" pass line to ride again?

I do not like this, Sam I Am.

The point of the baby-swap is so that both caretakers of the child can have a turn riding.

I think it's more than fair to let someone else go with the baby-swapper so that he or she does not have to go alone.

I'm not sure what the "rule" is if there is only one extra child. Look at the thread on baby-swapping on themes and attractions and ask Disneydork the CM who was so helpful to me.

My suggestion would be one of two things.

#1 - have one child ride with you and one child ride with your mom

#2 - have the older children swap off having a second turn.

This is not ment to be mean in anyway ... but the policy is there so that all people in the parties get to ride at least once ... and not multiple times. I think that we need to keep that in mind. (Smile, smile, smile!)

Oh, OK, since you put it that way....

You're right, of course. It's more inconvenient for me, but I guess it's the fairest way to do it. And I don't feel so bad after reading the baby swap thread you were talking about. (Here's a link, BTW: http://64.225.125.24/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=74819 ). At least the baby swap passes can be used any time, sort of like a fast pass that you can use at your own convenience. So if we all Fast Pass together and all get Baby Swap passes we'll still get to ride twice.

Do I have this right?
All get fast passes. Adult 1 and Child 1 use regular fast passes to ride while Adult 2 and Child 2 get baby swap passes and wait with baby. Adult 2 and Child 2 use regular fast passes to ride (holding on to baby swap passes), while Adult 1 and Child 1 get baby swap passes and wait with baby. Now everybody has baby swap passes, which can be used any time.

The advantage of this method is that everybody gets to ride twice. The disadvantage is that we do have to go through the fast pass line twice. I still like the old way better (no waiting for adult #2, and both kids get to ride twice in a row without waiting.)

Hey ... could you post this question on the other thread?

I'd like to know the answer too.

I wonder if the CM would catch on and say "no"?
