While i was at work today DH got a phone call from our bank. They wanted to know if we had tried to make a transaction through western union today. Dh told them that we hadn't. Well someone has, to the sum of £512 earlier today. Luckily our bank thought this was a strange transaction and rang. We don't know who tried to take the money or how they got the number from the card, We don't pay online with our debit cards (or haven't for a year or so). Maybe someone got the number a while ago but its so scary to think people will do anything to take your money. DH's card has now been frozen and the bank are looking into this. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

not me but a friend had a similar experiance, luckily it was caught before the transaction was completed :)

I recieved a credit card bill for £500, the transaction was to a catelogue company and the delivery address was in nottingham, i was very shocked as i had not used the card in over a year and also the transaction had been made before i had even recieved the card from the credit card company, it was a replacement as i had lost my purse and had to put a stop on all my cards, the credit card company refunded my money and i just filled out some fraud forms!!!

Glad th ey caught it in time,

Alex

Thank goodness your bank was on the ball! Glad they caught it before you lost any money! :goodvibes

This happened to us in february someone cloned our card in the local tescos ATM then used it to withdraw £100 from an atm in wolverhampton a couple of days later. The bank were excellent they put a stop on my Dh card straight away how they knew it was a fraudulent transaction i don't know but the money was back in our account within 2 days. We also had to report it to the police ours was the 35th one that day. Hope your bank sort it out quickly for you.

Thank goodness your bank were on the ball :thumbsup2

We had fraudulent use on our credit card with an online gambling company to the sum of £111.98, when the bill arrived it was $190 changed to sterling. Informed the credit card company straight away, filled in a form to say it definitely wasn't us using the card and we were credited with the amount, but it upset us a lot. We are always careful with our cards, have no idea how anyone got the number! DH has just order a new card for his digital camera and the company have said there is a block on our new card, rang up the credit card people who say there isn't. I'm beginning to think about giving the cards up, but aren't you just lost without them :confused3
