Someone talk to me about Universal Mardi Gras week!

We are crusing on DCL Feb 12-23, and heading for Universal Thurs 23- Sun 26. We will have Thursday from about lunch on, Friday, and Saturday after Mardi Gras in the park. I know that there are Mardi Gas festivites at Universal, but does anyone know how much the effect crowds the latter part of the week? We got a goo deal at the Holiday Inn Universal Maingate, so we plan to stay offsite. I was just wondering if the crowds would be bad enough to warrat purchasing the FOTL add on for the tickest ,since it only gives FOTL once for a ride? Our big focus is going to be WWHP, but there are othe things we would like to see as well.

All Mardi Gras festivities are in the Studios so IOA is not affected. Crowds usually build throughout the day...especially on Saturdays when the big parade and concert are staged...but otherwise it's not usually too bad. I don't think you would need to spend the money and stay onsite during that time.

thanks for the info. We are looking at booking a 3 night package at one of the partner hotels now. The prices are actually better through universal than on the travel websites and you get the 1 hour early admission to IOA. We are looking at the comfort suites or the holiday inn express. Can you recommend one over the other?

Since I don't stay in the hotels here in town, I'll let someone else come along and give you a recommendation.
