I am at work, and just went to the fridge to get my lunchbag and it was GONE! The lady closing up the cafe said it happens ALL THE TIME and she said next time not to get a cute lunch bag! ??????

WTH? Who steals a lunchbag? I am trapped here for 8 hours and I just started a new diet. I had all of my food all weighed measured and packed. I am so mad I just want to cry!

I just had to vent. I am trapped here there is nothing in walking distance. I am going to ahve to order out, which wasn't in the budget for today, and Im going to get a salad and have to guess the points. Dieting makes me cranky, stealing my lunch makes me want to cry.

It happens by us too. I now use a broad tipped permanent marker to put my name on all containers, ziploc bags and my lunch bag before I leave home. So far, no one has dared to steal my lunch now that my name is all over it.

Just estimate the points as best you can, and go from there. I hear you about it being a strain on your budget. Some people really have a lot of nerve.:hug:

I hope the rest of your evening is better!

I'm not laughing at you OP. It sucks really. I know at my work people lift my waters, and pop out of the fridge all the time.

But I just keep thinking of the Friends episode when Ross' turkey sandwich gets stolen by his boss:lmao:

Sorry to hear... people are jerks.

get an insulated lunch bag and some reusable freezer packs to keep it cold till lunch time. Then keep it near your area.

MIkeeee

They just fired a guy for stealing a person's lunch at work!

It's been happening in my office too, especially to the freezer meals. I've told the ladies to just open the boxes and attach a note to the front.

"By the way I licked every other piece of food before I put it back in the box."

One time I had someone at an old office stealing my food. If I know I am taking chicken or pork the next day I don't cook it all the way so it doesn't dry out and get tough when I heat it up. I knew who was taking my lunch, but never caught him red handed. When my pork disappeared I said real loud that whoever took it better have heated it thoroughly or they will have food poisoning unless they made themself sick since the pork was still pretty raw. It wasn't that raw, I was being extra dramatic. He disappeared for a while into the bathroom and my food never disappeared from the fridge again.

What?Is this still elementary school and there is a kid munching on your Doritos? Jk.

Seriously though, they sell bags that are insulated so put some ice in there and keep the food in there.

It's theft, and I hope your company treats it as such.

My husband had a continued problem with people stealing his lunches, and he reported it enough that his bosses installed a webcam up near the fridge. Then they sent out a message to everyone that it was a fireable offense. Didn't happen again.

One day both hubby's and a coworker's lunches were stolen (before the camera). Not a problem for many, but hubby and the coworker both have blood sugar issues...the coworker is type 1 diabetic and hubby seems to be type 2 (food changes have eliminated any high readings, he's doing really well, so well it's hard to say "diabetes" about him)...both needed the lunches they BROUGHT, not the stuff they could buy at the store across the street. That was the final straw for the bosses, b/c the thefts were endangering the health of two employees.

It's great that their company would do something about it!

The salad was tasty! They brought the wrong dressing, but overall it was pretty yummy.

Im just not happy about having to spend the extra money to buy dinner, now buy a new lunch bag and some ice packs. But I will def not use that fridge again!

I would LOVE to have a webcam!

Joiseymom, what did that man have to say for himself? ANy reason for lunch stealing?

My friend and I used to buy frou frou creamers and take it to work for our coffee, but people kept using it up and there wouldn't be any left. I bought a clear rubbermaid bottle and wrote "BREAST MILK" on it with a big marker. We kept the creamer in that and I am quite sure no one else touched it after that.

I would take a marker and write "BREAST MILK" or "GLUTEN FREE" or something similar on it. Maybe they will think it is either nasty or for somebody that has food allergies.

Make some chocolate x lax brownies and you will soon know who the theif is :lmao:

That is awesome:worship::worship:

we've had that problem at both places I worked for. I am floored that someone would steal from someone they know. In my old job they caught the guy and he got fired. He wasn't even stealing whole lunches, he would eat half a sandwich and put it back, take sips out of people drinks etc. It was gross; people would go and find bites out of their food :scared:

This job they haven't caught the person. I keep all my food at my desk, I bring my lunch with an icepack in it. I keep my drinks in my desk drawer locked of course. I even will keep frozen dinners in the lunch box with icepack. Yes, it thaws a little but not enough to cause food born illness concerns.

Estimating the points should be fairly easy with a salad...most of it should be 0 points if doing WW, it's the dressing that might be hard because you have no idea how much was on there. I would try to estimate on the high side

My hubby had several guys stealing gatorades from his ice chest at work.
He bought several bottles of exlax and poured into the drinks......after that day , he never had anyone touch his stuff again.

The only thing that was safe in our work fridge was a giant container of Prunes. It stayed there for months and no one touched it.

I once put a container of left over mac n' cheese mixed with broccoli in the refrig at work & when I went to eat my lunch the theif had eaten the mac n' cheese out of the dish and just left the broccoli behind!!!
