This trip started being a "budget trip", staying at POR for 6 nights::yes:: We are celebrating grandma's 80th birthday, DH and brother's birthday. Also, this is my niece (13) first time at Disney, actually, she was 2 the first time, but, that doesn't count. Also, we are thinking of having a baby, so, we will probably be on a Disney hiatus for at least 2 years ( oh,my ..I said two years:faint: ) Well, I decided to splurge and book an illuminations cruise as a surprise to celebrate all birthdays :cake: . You think that would be enough, right? Nope, not for me..all I took was for DH to say that he did not want to sleep in a double bed and for my brother to tell me that DN would really love to stay at a monorail hotel..yes, I switched..first to a wing at the Contemporary which was just a bit over POR. Fine, you said right? Nope, not for me, I decide the CR does not have the right atmosphere for me and I switch to the Poly which doubles our original rate plus a few $$ more , but, I'm good for two reasons
1. I keep our ressies at POR for 2 nights.
2. I do not book concierge
PS. Our deposit is due 45 days out. Once I pay that it is going to be very tempting to book conceirge, hopefully it won't be available or there goes my "budget" again :rolleyes1

I don't stop there I also book several PSs:

1. Ohana's
2. Teppayanki
3. Fantasmic dinner package

You think I busted my budget enough? Nope, I decide that we must do the Segway tour now, since, in the future when we return we will have a baby and we won't be able to do it. Sounds logical, right? Plus, we are under 60 days there probably won't be any room anyway, right? Nope, I called and they had room for 2 more for the specific date that I wanted, so, I had to book it right?

Enough, right? Nope, I am seriously considering adding an extra day at the beggining of our trip to go see Cirque, since, we have never seen any of their shows. Maybe, ask DH for it as my birthday present. Of course, being the budget minded person that I am, I'm thinking of staying at POP for that one night, but, as you may already suspect, I'll end up at the Grand Floridian

You are too funny! You sound like me on every single trip! Finally I figured out that it was cheaper to rent DVC points for a one bedroom at OKW than it was to stay at the moderates for full rack rate! Then of course I add a couple days at ASmo for that trip. Then I think "Hmm, Coronado Springs won't be much more than that, but then of course it would be nice to try out Wilderness Lodge! AHHHHH it's like the spiral of dwindling cash!! Let us know what you end up with!

hmm... sounds like DH. For our trip in September, it started out with "let's go budget, we'll drive down, stay off-site, do mostly counter service" then...

it became 9 nights at POFQ - OK, I'm fine with that.
then it became 2 nights Dolphin - rent DVC points for BWV - 2 nights Swan concierge - hmmm... this one's getting tricky
then it became 6 nights POFQ and 3 nights Poly
then AP codes came out and now it's 6 nights WL and 3 nights Poly

that's just the resorts... then came HDDR, 2 Kona Cafe lunches, 1 Ohana, 1 Le Cellier, etc, etc...(he's not done yet... still a month to go!)

then we were going to drive down... then it became... "look at the great deal on AirTran!"...sigh... so now we're flying down

then I was going to reserve a towncar... well DH got to looking around... "Oh...look, Alamo has a really great rate at only $50 more for 10 days - let's rent a car!"

So.... from the so-called budget vacation with us planning to stay at Country Inn for only 7 days, this vacation has turned out to be a luxury one for us! With a whole month to go I'm just waiting to see what else he changes on us!:teeth:

Hi Bridgettesmom- We may be twins- I also have a Bridget - and our 5 day budget trip to ASMO that we planned for Dec. 2004 now, somehow, is now a 9 night vacation complete with a 4 night DCL cruise! And ASMO will quickly be changed to WL or CR if ever I get a postcard:p .
Have a blast- I am sure we will.

Yep, I'm the same way! I haven't given in quite as much though, at least yet....

Our trip started out as 4 nights/5 days at CBR. The I figured out that if we stay at a value, we could stay 5 nights for just a tiny bit more......

First it was one character meal, just because "the boys" would love it......but the rest of the time we'll do counter service

Now we're at 8 nights at ASMo with a seven character meals, a few other PS at sit-down restaurants, going to MNSSHP, and I'm debating moving back to CBR. The only thing stopping me there is that our entire trip is paid for, and if I move to CBR, I'll have to pay more....
