OK maybe its not called Grinchmas, but we have never been to IOA during the holidays. Is it like WDW where you need a special party ticket to get into the park during the Grinch show or something?:confused3 Or is it where you can go anytime and be able to see the show, and enjoy the holiday happenings?

The Holidays at Universal are a lot of fun!

First off, there is no ticket needed for ANY of the holiday events!!

Universal has a lot of holiday decorations set up around the park and citywalk. The Macys parade goes around the street each evening and makes a quick stop near the big tree by Mummy to do a tree lighting show and it snows on the street by the Mummy. Its a really fun parade, and you can even be a part of it for anybody in your party over the age of 18. They had signs posted about it near the entrance to the park and on the park map if I remember right last year. Also, they have the holiday village (also near the big tree) where you can get some fun holiday themed food and see some neat holiday items. Last year they had a glass blower which was really fun to watch.

Over at Islands, the Dr. Seuss area becomes Whoville! Through out the day, you will see Whoville citizens walking the streets putting up decorations, talking to visitors, and just having a lot of fun with everybody in the area. They tend to hang out in groups, but there is normally always one of them out somewhere in the area during the morning and afternoon hours. Towards the evening, they are not out as much. They look amazing with those noses!

Also, you will be able to see the Grinch show (which is not to be missed! Our whole family loved it last year!) from the Dr. Seuss area. They have signs up near One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish about how to reach the stage and a pathway to follow. Normally the show is outdoors, but last year they moved it indoors and so hopefully they do that again this year. The indoor experince was a lot better because of the sound and lighting being better than an outdoor area.

You can also meet the Grinch during the day at this meet and greet area. By warn though, he can be mean! He talks to the guests, and some of his comments can be a little rude, but thats what makes him the Grinch! If you have little kids, he normally does not do this, which just seems "odd" seeing him "nice".

Anyway, I was really impressed last year with my holiday trip. It was my first time visiting Universal during any holiday and I thought they did a really good job considering all the fun events were included with the park ticket! If your going this year, you will love it!
