Well, I think we've decided to just let them think we're going to Auntie Debbie's house and drive to the port. I don't have time to make t-shirts along with all the FE gifts we're planning!I'm torn between your two options of revealing the cruise to the girls. I like the t-shirt idea because you'd be sure and get their reactions on video, but it seems so much more fun to wait and watch their surprise as they see the port come into view!
I'll look forward to hearing about the dolphin encounter. We're looking at that or the sea lion encounter, leaning towards sea lion just because it's more than $100 cheaper. Of course, as much as we're paying for this vacation is $100 really that big of a deal???
Anita - the straw market scares me!![]()
I hope the dolphin encounter is fun. You will get a full report. I agree - we keep saying, heck what's another $100? Funny thing is, this was supposed to be the "inexpensive" trip instead of Europe!
We might have to make a run through the new improved straw market. Mommy might like a faux Coach purse!Michelle-We need to look at those encounters....
The straw market (from what I hear) has a new inside home. I can't go back without knockoff purses for my daughters.
Sheree-I like the pulling into port idea myself. Just be sure to get it on video....
We are so excited! We keep saying things like, wouldn't it be cool to try the Aquaduck? Sarah says I really want to go on the Dream for my birthday and we keep telling her it's too expensive and we can't get a room now at this late date.Sheree- your trip sounds FANTASTIC!!!
I vote for letting the cruise reveal itself on the drive. Imagine how proud the girls will be for figuring it out on their own rather than just reading the t-shirt.
You could also do really corny ship puns- "I've Dreamed about this trip for a long time" "Glad I a am in ship-shape for this trip" "Lifesaver, girls?"
Your stateroom sounds absolutely divine!!!
They will LOVE the dolphin encounters. We did one in Jamaica (actually, Ben and Mark did a dolphin encounter and Nate and I snorkeled with SHARKS!) Then at Atlantis, Ben and I did a dolphin encounter since Ben was not old enough to do the swim/footpush that Mark and Nate did.

Oh, good point, I sort of forgot about the Space Center. They really like it there too.So much fun reading about your plans! The dolphin encounter sounds like it will be a blast!
I like the idea of taping them as you get towards the port. What if you play it off and say you are going to the Space Center -- would they buy it? That way even if Sarah is reading the signs, she won't realize it until you are much closer.
I was reading about the assigned show. I think if you want to go to the 5:00 they will let you. It's the only way I'll be able to cram everything in I want to do! That will be one busy day! I plan to rest with a lovely tropical beverage on Castaway Cay the next day though!I'm getting excited just reading it all. We have late seating for dinner as well. Did you know that the shows are now assigned. We have the 7PM show assigned to us. I have heard that they are going to scan your KTTW card when you go in to be sure you are at the right show. I guess the theater is only big enough to hold a certain amount of people, so they want to be sure you are going to your assigned show. 7 works for us though. We have more time to get ready.
I keep looking at the dolphin encounters. Claire saw something the other day on TV and said she wants to pet a dolphin. It is a hefty price though. I thought maybe DH and her could go and it and I could buy the observer ticket. But even then, it would still probably put my DH into shock at the price.
He does want to go over to Atlantis and look around.(we did that once before too with a NCL cruise) I would like to do a little bit of shopping, but I don't know if we will make a full day at Nassua either.
I can't wait to hear more of your plans!
I have to go back and check your ticker - when are you going? ETA just saw in your ticker and PTR that you are going at the end of March. I'll try to get you lots of info when I get back and of course, you can ask any questions too! Isn't it exciting??
Oh, it's so much fun! I hope you can get to go on one - it's money well spent!I can't wait to hear all about your cruise!! I've been checking them out, too.
It's so funny because Paige thinks she's figured it out that we're going to WDW, but I won't confirm or deny it. That's okay even if she thinks that's it, the cruise will be a total shock. The only challenge will be packing without giving it away.Your girls are going to be so surprised!
The dolphin encounter you described sounds exactly like the one my brother and nephews did while they were at Atlantis in October. They videotaped the entire experience.
Oh my - I didn't realize this was going to be a surprise. I love the T shirt idea, but if you give them out too soon it will definitely be a give away. Maybe wait until you drive by the parking lot, then pull over, turn the car around saying, "woops - we forgot something". Then wip those shirts out.
OH - your cruise is going to be SO MUCH FUN!
Yeah, I've never tried to surprise them with the whole trip before, just little things like dining in the castle. It's challenging, because we tend to talk about Disney a lot. But with the Dream being all over the news lately, we can talk about it in really vague terms about how cool it would be and get ideas about what they would like to do. It's definitely "someday" in their minds.
Hopefully I'll have more time soon to post some more plans. Work has been crazy busy and will continue to be for a while. I'll have to find some down time to DIS though!!
