My neighbors are THE BEST people- they have quickly become very good friends to our family since they moved in about 3 years ago. They found out about 5 months ago, after years of trying, that they were unable to have children of their own, so they started the process of getting with an adoption agency. As soon as their papers were filed and they completed their home visits with a social worker (I think this was in June), a young 16 year old birth mom chose them. I mean, their papers were in maybe a week or two weeks! (I'm telling you they are the warmest, most loving people- I am sure it came through in their biography). The birth mom was due yesterday and Christa just came running over with the phone in her hand saying birth mom was in labor and to come up (the birth parents live in Seattle and we are in a suburb of Portland- about 2.5 hours or so from Seattle)!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christa and her DH and simply beside themselves and so am I. After 6 weeks of feeling blue, I am finally so excited about something! Please pray for the birth mom and for a safe delivery for her and baby. I know my neighbors have to stay an extra 3 days in Washington; something about the papers to be filed so they can legally bring baby back over state lines. I know the birth mom and dad's entire families are 101% in support of the adoption, so I don't think there will be any sort of hang-ups. My neighbors have been faithfully driving up to Seattle each of the last 4-5 Sundays to attend birthing classes with the young girl, and they have cemented a nice bond with her.
