I let our credit card bills get out of hand. (Adopt three kids; rack up expenses for new kids; slow business = no pay for two or three months last spring.) I was just about through digging ourselves out of this mess, when my dear Hubby demanded that I hand over the books and

SELL OUR BEAUTIFUL DVC POINTS!!!


I called the Timeshare Store today. This really hurts; but he says that when everything is paid off we will start rebuying small chunks (i.e. 25) at a time with cash. I hope that it happens; if not, we had fun while it lasted.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles, I have a small business and its hard some times to keep it all together. Family and home come first, Disney will be there when you get back on your feet. Best of luck to you and your family.

Are all your points in one contract or can you save a few and sell the rest? Otherwise you might want to purchase 25 points just to stay in DVC before you sell.

You have all my symphathy as we are doing the same thing. My dh was unemployed for a year, the last year, just start working again. We've cut back in so many ways, sold many things. But alas, the smart thing to do is to sell our DVC. Loved it, wish I could keep it, but at the same time, I hope it sells quickly. I guess like a bandaid, rip it off fast!

BTW, I'm an adoptive mom too!

I love DVC as much as the next fanatic here on these boards...BUT....

Three kids vs. DVC....no competition there! Congratualtions on your wonderful family. The rest will work itself out.

I am not as sad as I thought that I would be; maybe reality hasn't fully sunk in. I keep hoping that money will fall from the sky or that one of our trees will start sprouting greenbacks (or that I will convince my DH to keep some of the points -- I know that he won't.). It was mildly painful to call The Timeshare Store and I know that closing papers will hurt even more.
But I cheer myself up with memories of our trips and get distracted by instances like the one that came up while I was typing this: four naked kids on the porch whining that the six yo ds has thrown their clothes on the roof including their underwear; and I look forward to the trips and times ahead.
