Some serious advice please...

Guys not sure if this is the right forum to post in and i maybe over reacting but i have to ask.

What happens if the euro collapses?. I have just seen a news summary saying merv king is telling the banks to build their reserves in readiness for the collapse of the euro.

I am going to disney in jan and was going to start getting some euros togther this weekend but now am not sure what to do. If the euro does collapse would that affect our trip to disney?.

i seriously doubt the euro will collapse within the next 2 months. im no expert mind and i do struggle to understand all the facst and figures. but i think there are to many countries and governments and banks which rely on the euro for it to collapse overnight.

The Euro is unlikely to just collapse, what's more likely is the currency becoming seriously devalued which means great for us - our trips will be much cheaper.

We are going at the end of Jan and I'm holding off from purchasing euros until just before we go - I'm hoping that we'll get a good exchange rate.

I think the position now of the euro compared to two years ago is a much weaker one.

As another poster said it would be great for us if it was seriously devalued but a nightmare for everyone within the euro.

It just seems as if bad news follows the euro all the time and just never goes away no matter how many meetings the leaders of the countries have.

I think i will hold off a bit too and see what happens.

I would be amazed if it collapses in the next 2 months. It may happen eventually, I do think that some of the euro countries are waiting to see who makes the 1st move & return to their old currency.

Life is too short to worry about everything! Nothing will change in the next 2 6 weeks.

The Euro has been in chaos for 2 years and the exchange rate has always been between 1.05 and 1.20.

I don't usually worry, but when a guy like merv king tells the banks to start building reserves etc it made me a bit weary...

aj2703, I'd wait and get your euros just before you go. That's what I'll be doing next summer unless things are sorted out beforehand.

I don't usually worry either but I got unnerved enough this week to change my leftover euros back to sterling. Normally I just keep whatever we have left from one holiday for the next one, usually it's only a few euros, but this time I had nearly €300 left over from when we went to Rome and decided that was far too much to risk.

I'm sure I'm over-reacting but would rather lose the £30 that it's cost me than the whole €300 - that's our Sunday Brunch meal at Inventions!!

Slightly off topic Ware Bears, but what is Rome like?. I have been itching to go there for years, but being a single full-time father i do wonder if it would be a good place to take an 8 year old or maybe better to wait till he is older.
