We just got offered 226 Points for this year from a friend of a co-worker.

We aren't DVC members.

How does that work?

If we buy Park Hoppers, can we add the Dining Plan since we are staying on property?

We have a 5 night stay at PoP with the Dining Plan scheduled for the 1st week of January, but it looks like we could do a week at the AKL DVC (if available of course) for the same price.

The Dining Plan is the kicker though.

Thanks in Advance...

go to this link to find point charts for the different DVC resorts. you can book 11 months in advance at their home resort and 7 months in advance elsewhere, and planning in advance is often very important.

you can add the dining plan without having to buy any tickets if you are staying on points. (no "free dining" ever, though.) just have the friend add the dining plan to the reservation in advance.

it's going to be difficult, if not completely impossible, to book the first week of jan 2009 at this point...but if your friend is willing to check, it's worth a shot.

Both the first two weeks of Jan will be difficult with the new year (and kids out of school) and the marathon. And December will be impossible.

If they are offering these to you, for free, you need to give both the co-worker and his/her friend a big thankyou. Those points are worth about $2260.

The dining plan is approx $39 per day per guest age 10+, $9 per day per guest age 3-9

Only if they can be used or banked before they expire. At that point, they are pretty much worthless.
