Yes so they can have the 11 month advantage on those points. You still cannot combine them until 7 months.

Some may just buy the cheapest resale they can find if they only book at 7 month window.

Actually, I didn't buy at a second resort to get the 11 month window. I already had 2 BCV contracts but 3 sons. I decided I needed another contract, one for each son. At that time, SSR sales had just opened, the resort hadn't even been started yet. I stupidly purchased. I wish my 3rd contract was at BCV.

We also didn't buy 2 resorts for the 11 month window...when we were at WDW in 2001....and staying at the Wilderness Lodge....they were selling VWL then so that what we bought...170..never realizing we could have asked about purchasing our points at BWV.....after finding these boards....we then asked our guide about doing an add on at BWV....we had to wait a few months for points to become available before we added 150 BWV pts.....

We did buy at different home resorts for the 11 month booking window! If we don't have enough points for all of our guests to stay at the "main" resort, we also have used the points at 7 months to get eveyone "in." So far, it's worked out fine!

We own at BCV & BLT for 11 month booking. We added on SSR through resale because it was inexpensive.

I only have two, but it was a $ decision. Just couldn't afford 100 additional at my preferred/home resort of BLT, and was willing to take the chance of the 7 month window working for me. I'm also comfortable at any of the resorts I've stayed at so no biggie if I don't get first choice.

We own SSR and VB, use the 11 month window for booking holidays or the 3br units. If we are just planning a long weekend, I usually wait till the 7 month window and see what I get. I may book SSR in the priority period and switch at the 7.

We first bought OKW and then discovered we love splitting up our WDW trips with a trip tp Vero so we bought there so we can always get in there during busy times. After we visited HH we bought there so we can get in during the summer.

My first purchase was at SSR. I added on at AKV for the 11 month booking window for concierge. I added on at BLT for MK view. I added on at Aulani for ocean view. I have stayed at all the other WDW DVC resorts but I am always able to get the view I want at 7 months at the others.

We own BCV for the 11 month window and originally purchased AKV for the extra years but found we also love the resort!
