The Walt Disney World Resort Will Host a Celebration Commemorating the Legacy of Walt Disney
Walt Disney World has released the details of its next major event, which will commemorate the 100th anniversary of Walt Disneys birth and celebrate his legacy of creativity and spirit of adventure. The 100 Years of Magic celebration begins Oct. 1, and will pay tribute to Walt with special events and all-new sparkling live entertainment at all four Walt Disney World theme parks.
The focal point of the celebration will be the Disney-MGM Studios, which will unveil a new, permanent icon a 12-story-tall Sorcerer Mickey hat. Also new for the celebration at the Disney-MGM Studios will be the Disney Stars and Motor Cars Parade, celebrating the Disney-MGM Studios stars in a classic Hollywood motorcade parade; and the attraction, Walt Disney: One Mans Dream a multi-media tribute to Walt Disney featuring rare memorabilia from the Disney archives.
The new attraction joins a lineup of current Disney-MGM Studios favorites including the recently opened Who Wants To Be A Millionaire Play It! show. Other 100 Years of Magic additions across the Resort will include interactive kiosks that allow guests to discover the stories behind the magic of Disney and new interactive pins that will further immerse guests into attractions and entertainment.
Wonderful World Points kiosks are being added at each theme park and will allow guests to dig through a computerized treasure trove of fun facts that show the heritage behind the family-entertainment fun of todays Disney parks.
Pin trading, which became a popular phenomenon during the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration, will be taken to a new level during the 100 Years of Magic celebration as Walt Disney World introduces Disneys Magical Moments Pins. These new-age pins will put on a mini-light show at surprise moments, interacting with live entertainment during the new nighttime parades; fireworks shows; various attractions and the interactive kiosks.
The Magic Kingdom will celebrate 100 Years of Magic with the character-filled Share a Dream Come True Parade. Also new for the celebration is The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, which opens this month in Adventureland, and SpectroMagic, the popular nighttime spectacle which has returned to the Magic Kingdom.
During the 100 Years of Magic celebration, Disneys Animal Kingdom will launch Mickeys Jammin Jungle Parade a new, high-energy parade themed around Mickey and friends, riding five expedition vehicles through a jungle and throwing a giant party along the way for their animal pals. The newest Walt Disney World theme park will grow even more during this special year with the addition of Chester & Hesters Dino-Rama! a dinosaur-themed fun fair complete with rides and midway games.
Epcot will showcase two of Disneys newest entertainment extravaganzas Tapestry of Dreams, a twice-nightly procession being updated for the 100 Years of Magic celebration with new characters called dream-spinners and a colorful new float called the Dream Catcher; and the nighttime fireworks spectacular Illuminations: Reflections of Earth.[
