Solo Trip...What Would You Do? Or Tell me about Your Solo Trip!

I've also never heard of the letter-boxing thing... but now I'm looking forward to doing something new in October when I go solo again:)

I've been to Disney quite a few times, always bringing someone else... which is rewarding and wonderful in it's own right... But I went on my first solo trip last October.... and to put it simply--you are only alone when you want to be. There are people to talk to everywhere... and you already have something pretty major in common with them!! CM's and fellow vacationers... and I've found that parents love chatting with another grown up from time to time:)

Having a trip that is solely for you is absolutely divine... and I must say... bring along the diary. Write it all down. It's so much fun to read and/or share later. I'm happy for you! Take pics of whatever you want:) Ride things in multiples...

My happiest moment last solo trip was when I went to the Studios because that was the plan for the day. I got in, I rode ToT and RnRC... and realized I was kind of in the wrong park. I love the Studios, but I just wasn't feelin it. I sat down on a bench trying to figure out what I wanted to do next... Nothing. I wanted a napoleon and a glass of wine in the World Showcase.
"But it's Studios day," I reprimanded myself.
"So?," I countered.
"Good point," I thought.
And after this little silent conversation in my head (no, I'm not THAT crazy:).... I jumped up and marched out of the gates onto the boat to Epcot... Smiling like a lunatic the whole way. It was GREAT.

"Liberating"... perfect word for it.

I absolutely love solo trips to WDW and to other vacation spots. For my birthday every year, I go on a 8 day trip someplace (cruise, Disney, Greece) by myself and absolutely love it.

I work in the health care field, so I am constantly having to monitor my patients and take care of every intimate need. I love my family, but they can be bottomless pits of need as well. ;) So, my once a year trip is a chance for me to do whatever I want, when I want to and not have to listen to any one else's thoughts or desires. It's all about me for a whole week. :rotfl:

Things I love, going on a ride that I like that other family members don't like, over and over again. Just walking slowly through the parks, taking in the atmosphere, looking at the plant life and decorations, listening to the music and people watching. Getting to the park by rope drop (my wife would sleep until noon if I let her!) and leaving when ever I felt like. Eating as much, or as little as I want. Drinking as much as I want without hearing "You're having another margarita from Mexico!?" Planning to do something one moment, than changing my mind and doing something totally different without having to explain it!

My week alone is such a freeing experience. I really crave it and look forward to it all year!
