I am trying to figure out the pros and cons of different transportation options for a solo traveler from MCO to BWV. Not interested in a car rental.

DME vs. town car vs. taxi?

Factors to consider are cost, transportation time, and comfort.

Thoughts? :coffee:

For cost, you can't beat free. DME wins.

For time, if you don't have to stop and pick up checked bags, a car service will be quicker. If you are checking bags, I would go with DME. Let them get your bags, and go hop on a bus.

I use DME solo all the time. I love it. I sometimes don't feel all that comfortable in a cab or even a towncar on my own. So, DME fits the bill nicely. I don't have to get my bags, unless I want to. It's very comfortable and pleasant. I would save the money and use DME!

My feelings exactly (although I've never tried to do a cab/towncar solo, but I know I would feel uneasy about it). Love ME, and letting them take care of my bag.

My two cents:

DME
Pro - 1) Free 2) Baggage delivered directly to your room <<for arrivals between 5am and 10pm>>
Con - 1) Waiting for bus to load may take time. 2) Multiple stops at WDW resorts

Town Car
Pro - 1) Direct transportation to resort 2) Flat Rate <<you know price ahead regardless of traffic>> 3) Most offer a stop at a grocery store to pick up items for your stay <<drinks, snacks, etc>>
Con - 1) Paying out of pocket for transportation <<approx. $70 one-way plus additional tip>> 2) Usually must reserve pick up in advance

Taxi
Pro - 1) Direct Transportation to resort 2)Always available without reservations
Con - 1) Paying out of pocket for transportation <<approx. $60 one-way plus additional tip>>

I did a solo trip about a year ago - and stayed at BWV (by the way - a GREAT resort for a solo trip!). I took Disney Magical Express, after my flight arrived on a Sunday morning. It was nice not to have to deal with luggage. I had to wait for a bit before the bus left the airport and ME made a quick stop at another resort before the BW (?Port Orleans?). It wasn't too long of a delay - and the ride was very comfortable. I was quite surprised to get my luggage much faster than I expected (luggage handling is the best perk of ME - imo). And you can't bet the price - FREE!

That said - my son and I are taking a trip in spring 2015, and I am going to rent a car. I didn't like depending on the Disney internal buses for transportation - especially from the BW. It took forever to get to AK & MK - and back. Too many stops at other resorts!! I also like to know if I want to go outside the Disney parks, I can hop in my car and go.
