We just got back from a great stay at BWV last Friday… and now I’m seriously kicking around the idea of taking a quick solo trip before my AP expires this summer (DH said he is good on WDW for awhile, lol).

Where would YOU stay? There is decent availability at a few different resorts for the time I want to go.

I’m currently booked in BLT lake view studio, but could also do SSR, a savanna at Kidani, or OKW near the hospitality house.

I plan on spending a good amount of time in the parks, but also know I can do whatever I want solo! Help! 😁

I haven't stayed solo yet, but since I don't cook, SSR would be my 1st choice with all the food options but BCV (my other home) isn't too bad in that regard as well.

Well, Kidani (savanna view, of course) is my second favorite DVC after BWV, but the idea of being at BLT for a park-focused trip is attractive to me. And I love lake view there, too. So I’d stay put at BLT.

I would go with BLT (of course I am biased as this is my home resort). The walk to MK, the GF, Poly and WL easy to get to, gives a great variety of vibes, eats and things to do. Plus Epcot being easy to get to via the Monorail, makes this the best choice.

Of course you milage may vary, and as I said this is my home resort so I may be looking thru rose colored glasses.

I solo a few times a year - and look forward to the solo trips when I'm there with family and friends. Sounds bad - I enjoy being there with them, but solo trips are just so relaxed and liberating to do everything on my time.

Most of the time, I stay at Boardwalk or SSR - the convenience of having either walking access into Epcot and DHS plus the restaurants around the Epcot resorts, or the convenience of having Disney Springs to walk into anytime for food and entertainment, not to mention bus access (from Disney Springs) to every other resort.

My secondary picks after those two would be Beach (same reasons as Boardwalk, but Boardwalk's my home resort so usually I can get that easier), Wilderness Lodge/Poly/BLT for the MK and monorail access, or OKW (more removed, but can boat to Disney Springs anytime). I rarely do AK/Kidani solo - beautiful grounds and love the animals, but it's just too cut off with nowhere to walk to - everything's a bus away (I do drive to Disney and have my car, but prefer not to drive around - I feel more in vacation mode when I can walk somewhere, take a boat, or at least let a bus driver to the driving). I haven't stayed at Riviera yet, but I suspect it would be slightly better than AK for soloing, because of the Skyliner access to Epcot, DHS, and the Epcot resort hotels.

If you plan to spend much of your park time at MK, then definitely BLT. But overall, some of the other options would appeal to me more - the convenience to DS at SSR, or the very peaceful, relaxed feel of AKL and OKW. If I were solo, I'd take advantage of that beautiful balcony and view of the animals in the morning at AKL! We're often on the go so much, I don't get to take the time to enjoy that and just chill for a few minutes! And that is the place I want to chill...!

I have gone solo several times. I prefer resorts with inside hallways for all visits, but especially when I am solo. Can't even tell you why. Of your choices, I would pick AKV, but i am biased as AKV is one of my homes and favorite resorts. I can't stand BLT so it is always on my pass list. I have stayed at OKW and it was nice. Never stayed SSR (and probably should since it is one of my other homes) but not sure I would want to if there are other options available. If it was me, I would pick AKV and then waitlist either BWV or BCV hoping to move to a different resort.

I've stayed solo so many times over the years at DVC. Ordinarily, I might recommend Kidani or Jambo, but after my last stay at Kidani, I'm pretty sour on that place. None of my requests were met, and they were very general requests. One was to be on the side of the resort closer to Jambo-you mean to tell me there was nothing closer than I was? I was way out by the Pemba savannah. And the CM at the front desk was very brusque, not friendly at all. OKW sounds like a good choice, but my DH loves it so we say there whenever we go together. I kind of like having my "solo resort" and my fave is BCV, but I agree with the previous poster that you consider a resort that your DH has no desire to go to.

Solo stays can be awesome! I did a split stay at SSR and Yacht Club (apparently something was up with my original BCV room I was supposed to get so they put me up at YC club level instead) and it was great.

Got some nice time at Disney Springs mixed with some Epcot and HS action for a few days. You're definitely targeting the right resorts IMO. Can't go wrong with anywhere near Disney Springs or Crescent Lake and if I WERE to stay at a MK resort for a solo stay I'd probably go with BLT too (especially since I've never stayed there before). :D

One place that I don't see mentioned but I would stay if I were solo is one of the little Tower Suites at the Riv. Skyliner access to both Epcot and Studios. Stand alone resort.

I did two solo trips in the past couple of years. One I was celebrating turning 60 and was able to book a Resort Studio at the GF. This was early August 2022 and they had just released these rooms in June that year. I was planning on no parks, so the convenience and abdunance of restaurants on the monorail loop was great.

This past February I stayed in a studio at SSR in the Grandstands and visited all the parks. I loved it. The boat ride to DS was great.

I love solo travel now. I did not have to ask anyones their thought about what to do or their opininions.

I own at BLT but I just saw a post saying that the resort was in desperate need of an update. But I love the being on the monorail loop.

Have a great trip! :earsgirl: 😎 :smickey:

Thank you all for the helpful replies! I truly appreciate the thoughtfulness and reasoning. I was pretty set on my lake view BLT studio…

But, as we often do, I was playing around and seeing what else was available…

And I saw an AKL value 1br pop up. For only 6 more points for my stay!!! So now I’m “splurging” on a 1 br all for meeee 😁

I haven’t stayed at AKL in probably 12-15 years, so I’m excited to relax and enjoy all it has to offer. With DH, we LOVE the Epcot area (no busses to DHS, his fav park) and I always waitlist/stalk BWV (and have had a lot of success getting it).

58 days🎉

I was going to mention that BLT is great since the bus hub for MK is a short walk away - easy to get from your resort to another resort for dining.

But tough to turn down having a separate living room to relax in, even for a solo trip!

Nice. I have a value studio for 10 nights over Halloween and it only cost me 106 points!

The great thing about the value rooms is there very close to the lobby… the only bad part is you do have a slim chance of getting a parking lot view. I think there’s only two rooms of each type that are a parking lot though… then I think there are 8 rooms of each type for Savana and pool view… but still at that price point it’s hard to pass up… AKV is a great resort. You will have a great time.

If you’re feeling spy, definitely try Jiko. Sanaa is also great.
