Well I just got back from 5 days at DL...as a WDW vet I was prepared for the smaller Castle....but not an all together feel of the parks...it just wasn't "HOME"..POTC was Great....longer by far but that was the only thing I thought was better at all. I actually got bored before time to leave...The food was ok what I ate of it and I did enjoy eating inside the POTC ride at their Blue Bayou...Fantasmic was different and no good seating unless you paid for a dessert well in advance.HM was almost identical now with all the recent changes WDW made so that was a disapointment...(they/DL changed first) Soarin was exactly the same...not as many good places to eat...lines were insane busy at a time when it was to be "off season" unless you went during a parade or Other "show"....parades were good...DCA F&W Fest.....VERY disapointing...overall...I'll not go back!! But then I guess I'm prejudiced lol!!!:hippie:

I think that's how most feel about which ever park they have spent the most time at. I grew up in CA and had never been to WDW until I was 16...than not again until I was 26. I love both parks for their own reasons.

I think DL has WDW beat on the feel of Walt Disney, may not be important to some, but others need to feel that feeling....if that makes any sense.

I do agree with you on the resturants and POTC, pirates rock in DL, and the restaurants are not much to chose from.

IMO...I will continue to patron both, I like them both.

I found that I really missed all the food offerings at Epcot. However, the Parade of Dreams there was awesome! And I agree with you about POTC-I loved it there. Did you ride the Matterhorn, and if so, how did you think it was compared to, say, EE?

I just got back from a 4 nighter at Disneyland, too.

Sizewise, DCA's food & wine festival doesn't begin to compare with Epcot's. I thought there was a nice little variety of offerings at Lucky Fortune Cookie, although they were a smidge more expensive than what I usually see at Epcot. (Although, perhaps that's partly driven by fuel costs and come fall we may see prices up in Epcot, too.)
Counter service locations had the extra meal items. I had the California wrap sandwich and thought it was tasty.

Culinary demos? I liked the way DCA used the number cards to mark people's places in line and the complimentary mini bottles of Dasani were appreciated, too. However, recipes for the demos weren't preprinted and I was told there were no plans to put them up on the website. Pencil & paper were provided but it was tough to write quickly while watching the chef at work.

I did enjoy the ticketed events I attended, though, and thought they were more reasonably priced than the Epcot ones.

just wondering if anyone has had a reservation at the Blue Bayou as a solo diner. Going by myself in May and thinking about trying to eat there.

Thanks!

Rides that are better at DL or not at WDW

1. PotC
2. Space Mountain
3. Materhorn
4. Mr Toad
5. Grizzly River Run (when compared to Kali)
6. Storybook Ride and Casey Junior
7. IASW
8. The Train (for the Diaramic)
9. Monsters Inc

There are several rides that are at WDW that are not at DL, but they also have a lot more property. WDW and DL while similar are most definately different experiences. You can do DL/DCA pretty well in 3 days, I am not sure that you could do WDW in 3 weeks. Part of that is proximity, part of it is just more stuff to do.

each parks have many positives...few negatives...I just found I preferred WDW overall

Yes go! It was a fun atmosphere..but make your ressie as soon as your 30 days is here as they book quickly...I wish WDW had PTOC set up like DL including the Blue Bayou!!!
