Anyone tour the parks solo or with Dis-friends by choice but are not single? I'll be taking trip #2 without DH (he can only do Disney about every 4 years) and we always have a blast, and thank goodness for other family members and friends who "get it"!

:( going to miss you again

I've done Disney once without hubby, and although I love my husband, he too can only handle the crowds, and children, and craziness, and my drill sergeant ways about once every 4 years. I'm going with my sister in May, and look forward to it, but she is so much like me, so we'll hopefully have a great time!

I love going solo....my husband is a little leery to have me go by myself (he's a little protective) but then he remembers that I've gone 4 times solo and he calms down a bit. And besides, even if he didn't want me to go, once I get my mind settled, I go anyways - he just has to accept it! :lmao:

And he's probably a little relieved you like to go on your own!:thumbsup2

Sometimes I am single, sometimes I am not. . .depends on the week. Right now I am not sure. . .(wow, does that make any sense. . .). I live here and am always up for a meet. . .

I'm traveling solo starting tomorrow, leaving the long-term BF at home. He doesn't like to travel quite as much as me, and the alone time reminds us how much we like it be together!

Lots of times! DH isn't nearly the Disney nut I am, so he only goes about once every third time. He doesn't have the amount of vacation time either. Some people think it's a little strange, but it works for us.

Solo is nice sometimes...especially if you like to experiment with photography. You can really pace yourself and take some great shots. Its nice to leave the group soemtimes and get some personal time!

:yay: It's great to "agree to disagree" and then laugh at each other!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I really cherish those moments to myself in the parks!:cloud9:

I am just back from a Nov. 30 thru Dec 5th trip by myself. I love to go without anyone else. I do what I want, eat where I want - it's great.

I call it my Mental Health Trip. And I'm already working on figuring out when I can go next year by myself again.

I think I would like to try it sometime. It would be kind of nice to go where I want, and do what I want, without worrying about anyone besides myself.

I love going with DH though, and the last time I was there was with my Mom and she was kind of a party pooper so we didn't spend as much time in the parks as I would have liked. She always wanted to be back to our resort by about 5 p.m., eat at the food court, and then just relax all evening in the room. :( She didn't want me going to the parks alone, and since she paid for the trip I really couldn't go against her wishes.

But I think it would be fun to spend a few days there alone sometime.

I had a lovely 10 day trip this past Oct-Nov. DW came in for 5 days but I had a great time roaming free for the other 5. I highly recommend going solo and enjoy meeting new Disney fans. I met a great newlywed couple from Mississippi at the tequila tastings and a wonderful guy on the segway teaser in Innoventions.
This is a great option for those of us Mega fans married to mild Disney fans.

hi there
I just did 5 days solo after my DH had to cut our trip short for business. I stayed at WL which was great, I did heaps of stuff i normally wouldnt try if he was here , i even did table dining every day by myself...weird ....but I have to admit i was lonely for my man. And I guess him being on the other side of the world in australia didnt help, so although I love WDW I was happy to fly home. But I'm glad i tried it, it makes me appreciate his company, sense of humour and attention all the more, and after 20 years I think thats great.

I just remembered a funny story. On one trip I met another married solo. Like in our case, her DH was fine about her solo WDW trips. However, her mother-in-law definitely was not. DMIL was sure it was indicative of marital problems when the wife went solo. So they had decided not to tell DMIL, and pretend the wife was "in the shower" whenever DMIL called during one of the solo trips. Perhaps not honest, but it kept DMIL from worrying about the state of their marriage. Both the woman I spoke with and I thought it was funny-she took lots of "showers".

I think it's great that you stayed and did your solo touring AND dining - I've never had a problem dining alone - but have never done table service solo at WDW. Good for you...and congrats on the 20 years!

:rotfl2: That's a good one! Funny how we do things because some people don't understand and we don't want to worry them!

I was thinking of going solo during the first week in December next year because of th reunion events going on. Did you attend any meets?

Absolutely it would be fun!:goodvibes Sorry your mom didn't want you to go out alone - bummer...:sad2: I'm sure you had a great trip though - and just hanging out with the family is a thing sometimes!popcorn::

I LOVE going solo. Maybe because my sons and husband had different interests, but now I do what I want, when I want. My husband has gone solo as well. It definitely works for us!

I also went to Disneyland Paris solo, so it make WDW seems like a breeze!

I had planned to go to a couple of the reunion meets but didn't print out where any were at before leaving and then my technology challenged self messed up my computer and couldn't hook up to the internet to get meet info.

I totally forgot I had a Droid phone that could connect to the internet. My old phone couldn't so I'm not used to it. I didn't even access the lines Ap at all either. Now that I'm home it's kind of funny but it wasn't funny at the time.

I also managed to break my main camera. Normally I carry a backup one and I had the batteries and the charger for it but the backup camera was left home. I grabbed a cab to the nearest Walmart ($45.00!) and bought a new camera.

Sure hoping my next solo trip doesn't have these issues.

I feel safe at DW and love going alone! Highly recommend.
