I admit it, I'm crazy for the characters. I love to see them in the parks. Being there with my son was more of an excuse for me to get their pictures, but now I'm doing a solo trip in May. Would it be bad form for me to wait in lines just to take their photos by themselves (I don't know if I could go so far as to pose with them)? Also, is an adult collecting autographs weird?

Look at my signature photo. Bad form? I do it all the time. The characters LOVE it because it gives them a break from kids.

My next trip might be solo (or with a friend) and I plan to do as many character pictures I can.... (and no, I will not tell you my age but officialy I am not a kid anymore :teeth: )

I say go for it and have fun, you can be a "kid" at disney
ENJOY

i see lots of solos taking pictures....i've never thought it was odd.....and they take just as much time with the solo adults as with the kids.....sometimes a lot more time....(as someone said, it's a nice break from the kids)...

we weren't solo, but in august and then again in september i was at WDW on a trip with my adult daughter.....at one point she decided she wanted pictures with the characters.....so that's what we did......
they gave her just as much time as with the kiddies....and since at some of the spots there were disney photographers using photopass, we got some really spectacular shots....

Go for it,
I was working on my scrapbooks and needed a couple of Autographs and I stood in the lines to get the autograph and picture. It's great fun and the Charactor's enjoy it too.

besides....
many of the CMs playing the characters are just as disney nutty as we are.....I've been at the auditions, and it's basically part of the requirements to be hired.......so given that the characters are adults and yet they're so disney crazy they actually work at WDW, they can totally understand how adults/solos would want to have their picture taken with them...

Well, I am one of the biggest character lovers out there, and I sure am no kid! :teeth: When I am at Disney, all I do is look for characters, and if I find one I want to meet, I jump right into line! I have no hesitations about being an adult with no kids in line to meet my favorite characters! In fact, I love getting characters and autographs so much that I wrote up a 150 page website all about them! :teeth:

My only problems is that when you are solo and in line to meet a character, others sometimes think you are just "standing there", or you are with the family in front of you, so they cut right around you. I been cut in line so many times by people who assume I am not a legitimate person waiting to meet characters. :( I am more likely to wait in line if there is an attentive CM with the character. If the line looks chaotic, I will skip the character, unless it's a new character I been looking for, so then I become the most assertive person around!!!!! :teeth:

YES!! I got many pictures with characters during my last solo trip and only once did the character's handler (Woody's handler), who was a little person (or whatever the P.C. term is now) and he TOTALLY didn't get it. :confused3 He was shocked that I was there without children, let alone a family member, AND that I was solo! At first I was patient and explained my love for all things Disney. But after some time, I was getting so frustrated that I was ABOUT to say "dude, you are shorter than me, I'm going to pound you!" Thankfully for and him AND ME, Woody was ready for me at that precise moment.

I have to also admit that I got a picture with Mickey next and ratted out this handler

I get pictures with characters on most of my solo trips. I often just get autographs on postcards to send to my friends' kids, though. I did the autograph book a few years ago.

I once ended up with a picture of someone else's children because there was a solo father in front of me and CM just assumed I was with them. And after waiting in two 45 minute lines to meet Anthony Daniels (does he count as a character?) and get my picture taken, the CM didn't hold the button on my camera long enough to take the picture. Those have been my only "problems" with solo adult character interaction.

The characters are always so much fun. Some of them interact with adults more than others. But I once told Mickey Mouse that I was probably too old to have my picture taken with him, only to get an emphatic headshake "no." So if Mickey says I'm not too old, I believe it! :thumbsup2

I think it's true that characters have more fun with adults. When I was at 1900 Park Fare the Mad Hatter sat down at my table and said I should of ordered tea, and Pooh pulled out my chair for me. And the princesses always were calling me princess and asking where my prince was.

I love gtting photos with the characters. Once, a woman in line behind me assumed that I was holding the place in line for a child. She asked "where's your son?" lol! She was surprised when I posed for the pic with Dopey (of course!) myself.

DF and I also have lots of pics with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Chip N Dale, and all the Pooh characters at Crystal Palace. The characters are part of the fun and the reason why we go! :wave2:
