The rush of joy upon receiving my docs was squashed somewhat when I discovered that we had cabin 6648 which has a solid white wall verandah instead of plexiglass. We at the very front of the ship which I understand is where you will feel more motion. My three year old is prone to motion sickness (I am taking appropriate medication) but I am quite worried about the lack of a view (especially for the little one), and the movement.

Can anyone comment on cabins with this type of verandah.

I have called Disney and the ship is completely full so there is nothing they can do about moving us.

Thanks for your thoughts.

We had the solid metal veranda aft one trip, and it really wasn't so bad. We had done the clear verandas before and I do prefer those, but still like having a veranda, whether clear or solid--though my new preference is the navigators veranda.

Cabin 6648 is aft, not forward. We've cruised often aft and have never had a problem with seasickness.

I can comment on that exact room. It is in the back of the boat and is a perect location for the dining and deck 9. Right out the door and up the stairs to topsiders. We did not feel that the motion was worse. In fact it is pretty quiet back there. Hope you enjoy it.

Is there a website or floor plan that shows which cabins have the plexiglass vs. the solid wall verandahs?

I hope you enjoy your cruise! I would ask to be waitlisted and check back every so often. If nothing can be done before the cruise you may want to get to the port early and see if there are any openings on the day of sailing.

Good Luck!

Navigator Verandahs (Cat 7) have a metal bottom. All those in front of them has plexiglass, all those behind them have metal.

Thanks! I just found a link to dcltribute that show the exact stateroom numbers for the verandahs. On the deck plans Dave has listed which type of balcony it is for all of the staterooms. :flower:

The very aft cabins with the solid wall verandas are very nice, actually...yes, you must stand to see the ocean but the cabins further aft have deeper, larger verandas than the plexiglass ones!! We really enjoy them!! You can still sit and enjoy the outdoors and smell the wonderful ocean air!!!

Thanks for the info and advice. Apparently the ship is completely sold out, nowhere to move to at this point. I will try at the port if my heart is still set on looking at the ocean while lounging around in the cabin.

The solid metal ones are really tough if you have small kids...I didn't know anything about plexi or solid when I booked the first cruise and we ended up with a solid one....my dauhgter couldn't see out of it unless I was holding her up or she was standing on something...the next cruise I was sure to book a plexi one and she was able to sit in the chair and look out or just stand on the floor and look out, less worries! The thing I found strange about the solid ones is the fact that he handicap room we were in had solid metal ones....now for people confined to a wheelchair to have the solid ones is a bit strange, they can't see out!!
We always book rooms inthe aft and never felt much movement other than the night we hit rough seas, but now we book just far enough up to have a plexi verandah instead of the solid one.
