So, our beloved fifth wheel was 9 years old but still in great shape. But I just REALLY wanted a toy hauler, specifically to have my own golf cart at the Fort. We put our fifth wheel on Craig's list and kind of forgot about it.

We also went to the Polynesian and stayed Club Level for my birthday. Well, DH decided that Club Level is so much better than camping. And then we sold the RV. He doesn't want to buy another till we can afford to get a F350 Diesel dually and a grandiose fifth wheel (I'd say that'd be in *forever* aka never.)

I've found a fifth wheel just like our old one only with all the things I wish our last one had: garage for the golf cart, fireplace, washer dryer hookups. But it's an 8 hour drive away. unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued this model.

I just miss the Fort sooooo much. The Polynesian was nice, but nothing beats waking up in my own home away from home and taking the golf cart to Trails End for coffee in the morning.

Thanks for reading. I hope we don't sound like spoiled brats. Fort Wilderness is my happy place and I'm just feeling really blue, not seeing my fifth wheel in the driveway anymore.

Sorry! I 'feel' your pain. 'No' hotel, no matter how nice, could ever take the place of our own 'home' away from home. We, too, love FW. :goodvibes

Don't despair - maybe another RV is in your future - your dh may actually miss it after a few trips of hotels! ;-)

It is becoming very popular to buy a big (big) toy hauler and converting the front half to 2/3rds to living space and the remaining is basically a garage with the large rear door. If you guys are handy it would be a good way to have both of what you want. Do some research and see it is something you would be interested in doing.

Thanks for the support & well-wishes.

This is the model I'm looking at: http://www.keystonerv.com/mountaineer/models/357tht/model-mobile

I'm using my iPad, so the link might not work on a pc unless you take the "-mobile" off.

Yeah, North of the Mouse, I loved having my own bed that was only ever slept in by my husband and myself. I also feel like Maureen O'Hara in the Quiet Man... I need me things around me!

I think my husband may already be coming around. This evening we discussed it and he agrees this floorplan would work well for us. Now if I can only convince him to buy one before they all sell out (did I say they're not making this model anymore?)

We have a Keystone Montana and love it. I would hold out for the bigger truck, though. We pull ours with an F350 Dually diesel and it's like it isn't even back there. Good luck.

Thanks SCCamper. We can tow 15,200 and the fifth wheel I want is 11,400 dry (14,000 GVW). I know my husband would love a Laredo or King Ranch F350 dually diesel, but that would mean a truck loan which would push back getting a new RV about 5 years. I'm not willing to wait that long.

Napria, I hope it works out for you.

Club level at the Poly? :rolleyes2 I could see how DH would like that.

But how about anyplace else you go camping? Did you camp anyone around your home area with regularity? Maybe take it to the Smokies/mountains annually? Then DH would have to start shelling out a whole lot more bling for rooms everywhere. While campers aren't cheap, they're your home-on-wheels. Also there's the we-can-cook-some-meals-in-the-camper to help the financial side of the decision.

Bama Ed

Bama Ed, it isn't that he doesn't want to camp anymore so much as he wants to camp in ultimate luxury. He's always had such fine taste, it's a wonder he ever married me! Lol.

Hopefully I'll be changing the title of my thread soon. I'm hoping he's come around to agree to get that less expensive toy hauler I've got my eye on.
