Looking at Caribbean Beach Resort for a single night after getting off a cruise in mid October. It shows no availability. Should I just go ahead and book somewher4e else, or wait it out and assume rooms will show up at some point? Wanting it for the skyliner, but not a game changer/killer.

I’d book Pop for now if there’s availability or book a second or third choice.
Don’t wait. Availability will just dry up. You can always switch to Caribbean Beach if it becomes available.

Doesn’t hurt to have a fallback… like Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! If you see a good room for your desired resort hotel, go for it!

Always book *something* if you have to have a place to stay on a specific date, even if it's not your first choice. You can always keep checking back to see if CBR becomes available and switch.
Because I am old and dumb, is it as simple as calling and swapping, or would I need to book a new reservation and just refund the original? Have not swapped resorts since pre COVID, so no clue what reality is anymore.

You can do it either way, up to you.

But yes you need to book something. Oct is a very popular month now.

Does it show up if you try to book it for a couple days? Disney will sometimes block one day bookings. When that happens you can book it and call Disney and ask if they'll change the dates to drop the days you don't want. They often will but it take a bit on the phone, and if they say no just have them cancel the res.

You should be able to do it online either way, if you prefer not to call.

If you are just swapping hotels, under the same promotion (for example, you book now under a 25% off promotion and CBR becomes available under the same promotion) then you modify your existing reservation. It hasn’t let us do a modification if we are changing more than one thing. We did this last year changing from an All Star to Pop.

If it won’t let you modify, you can book the new reservation online and then cancel the original one. We had to do that last November when we had a reservation for this year booked at rack rate and then we wanted to modify it to a bounce back rate. It wouldn’t allow us to modify so we booked the new reservation online at the BB rate, double checked that all the info was correct, and then went in and canceled the original one.

I’m not sure what day you mean by mid October. But remember Columbus/ Indigenous People’s Day & Canadian Thanksgiving are both October 12. Some school districts have fall break around the same time. There are also several large conferences in October as well. Resorts may be pretty full that week, if that’s when you’re looking.

Also, make sure you’re actually searching rack rates. The website often defaults to search a discount, even if it’s not valid for the dates you’re looking for. An easy fix, open any resort under any discount, then click show all offers & change to room rate. Then you can put in new dates & any resort.

Was just coming on here to say this! I did this in October '25. I didn't receive any pushback when I called to cancel the additional nights I didn't need.
