Sold out cruises - best time to look for cancellations?

Hi, I'm interested in a cruise in early April and it is all sold out other than Concierge (which is above our price point). What is the likelihood that a verandah room might open up? I think there is some certain date when you either have to pay in full or cancel if you're going to ... not sure how far out from the sailing that is, and if that might be the most likely time to look to grab something? It's a 5 night Western Caribbean out of New Orleans in early April.

Currently it's 60 days per this article: https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/faq/temporary-booking-policy-final-payment/final-payment-due/

The temporary policy is currently set to end right before your target dates...I don't know if they'll extend it or not (they have extended it several times during the pandemic but who knows what winter will look like).

Otherwise I think it was 90? Certainly that seems like a good time to try and check. Honestly though I'd keep checking daily because you never know if someone's plans change for some reason.

The other time I'd look is whenever some new itineraries get announced/go on sale. People might decide to rebook to a new one and thus release their room on the sold out cruise.

Good luck!

Yes, PIF for a 5-night cruise is 90 days prior to the sail date. OP, there may be cancellations leading up to that 90-day point. So you might want to be checking in January, though cancellations can happen any time.

Is it the April 1-6 cruise? There are staterooms available for a party of up to 3 so presumably you have 4 or 5 in your party. If you are willing to split into 2 staterooms all categories are available. Depending on the ages of the kids, you might do 2 connecting oceanview or an interior across the hall from an oceanview, and end up at a similar price-point as 1 verandah.

Yes, that is the one! We have 2 adults 2 kids. Maybe we will grab something. Thank you, I didn't even think about looking at two rooms. Would make it more enjoyable for all as well!

Have you tried calling? Sometimes a sailing shows as sold out online but the phone CMs see more availability. Not sure why but that was the case for our March cruise we recently booked.

I booked it I booked it! I checked again this morning and this time they did show availability for all 4 in one room, so I grabbed it. Can't believe I have done this. I was not really so interested in a return trip to Western Caribbean, but I do want to see what Magic is like (have only been on Dream and Fantasy), and I think we will enjoy a couple of days in New Orleans as well.

Honestly, I would check every day for cancellations. People change plans all the time. They cancel, they swap rooms. But yes, it's 90 days out where people can cancel so check consistently in the weeks leading up to that date.

Oh yay! I'm glad you were able to snag the room you wanted! We sailed out of NOLA earlier this year on the Wonder. I'd definitely recommend finding somewhere to park (maybe your verandah?) and watch the sailing out down the Mississippi!

Yay! We did the magic for the first time in April this year after doing the dream and fantasy and loved it. The shows on the Magic are AMAZING, do not miss them. Also really loved the shaded hot tubs in the family pool area where you can sit and watch funnel vision even if it is raining--perfect for that april topsy turvy weather

I was looking at the NOLA cruises for April as well, but then I started getting anxiety about not knowing anything about the area, so I booked out of Miami instead. So typical of me, afraid to try new places. :rotfl:
