SOG Questions

For anyone who's been (esp. recently):

- Are there safes in the room?

- What size are the refrigerators? College dorm sized?

- The coffee makers they mention; coffee obviously isn't provided, but are they the filter, 12-cup kind, or something else?

- Sofa beds - they look pretty small. Are they doubles, queens? And when they're open, do they pretty much take up all the walking around the bed room?

- Should I try to request any particular rooms? Are pool view, first floor, worth it with kids? Or should we just wing it with whatever we're provided?

- Approx. how long will it take us to get to the water parks from SOG? Will it be worth it for the afternoons (we'll be getting Stars and Stripes passes).

- Can we buy the theme dinner tickets (Pirates, Arabian Nights, etc.) anywhere else for the same military rate than at SOG (i.e., at bases)?

- Does SOG offer a discount for the Poly Luau?

I haven't been there since the renovations, but I can answer some of your questions as I am sure some thing haven't changed.

- Are there safes in the room?

Yes, but you had to pay a small fee to use them.

- What size are the refrigerators? College dorm sized?

The refrigerators are new have no idea what size.

- The coffee makers they mention; coffee obviously isn't provided, but are they the filter, 12-cup kind, or something else?

Again, new

- Sofa beds - they look pretty small. Are they doubles, queens? And when they're open, do they pretty much take up all the walking around the bed room?

This was a twin size bed. Opens out like a foldaway.

- Should I try to request any particular rooms? Are pool view, first floor, worth it with kids? Or should we just wing it with whatever we're provided?

I always try to get pool side. I feel it is well worth it.

- Approx. how long will it take us to get to the water parks from SOG? Will it be worth it for the afternoons (we'll be getting Stars and Stripes passes).

For the water parks I would definitely drive, not use the buses. Seemed to take 10 to 15 minutes when driving ourselves.

- Can we buy the theme dinner tickets (Pirates, Arabian Nights, etc.) anywhere else for the same military rate than at SOG (i.e., at bases)?

Might even get them a little cheaper, as the bases sell out the old stock at the old prices before replenishing them. Depends on how your MOWR operates.

- Does SOG offer a discount for the Poly Luau?

Don't know.

Thanks for your reply. Hopefully someone who has been to the newly renovated SOG can answer the others.

Glad I only plan to put a 7 yr old on the sofabed!!

We'll be there in a few weeks & I'd love to hear from others that have been also.

How are things moving along? I know we requested first floor, & I'm almost positive we requested pool view, so I'm looking forward to it.
