It is feasible to just skip the buses and walk to Poly to catch the monorail? If so, appoximate distance... I think my kids' favorite part of the whole disney experience is the monorail!

Thanks! :earsgirl:

That's a good question as i may be staying there a night or two in December. Any input from past SoG patrons appreciated here too. According to the map they have on their site it doesn't look like it's too far. LINKY

We walked form the Poly to SoG a couple of times and found it to be an easy 10-15 minute walk. The buses were very good because they had a schedule and seemed to stick to it. There was never a guess about when the next bus would pull up.

We stayed at SOG last Feb and loved it!!! We used the buses once and they were still working out the kinks so there were some problems. We would walk to the Poly and it is a nice walk. SOG has what they call 'the shaddy shuttle' which is a golf cart that would take you from the resort to the end of the property and drop you off. You only had to walk across the street and maybe a block to get to Polly! It wasn't always running when we were there, but it was a nice surprise when you had a long sday at the parks and there was the shaddy shuttle waiting for you!! Have a great time!! :flower:

In the morning it is an easy walk, but by evening you may be dragging. Also as I get sore feet very quickly I try to save on walking when ever I can. Also you can ask how you can take advantage of the golf cart ride. Sometimes, and this is NOT a guarantee!, just sometimes you can catch a ride from SoG to the end of the street in a golf cart then walk the remainder to the Poly. There is a specific name for this but I forget what it is. :flower:

It was a very easy 6-7 min walk for us to hop on the mono at the poly (we do walk very fast) and we did it several times while we were there. It was fun at night to watch for the allegator's eyes in the pond. We even walked back from the TTC one night, when the lines were really long for the Monorail... it took under 15mins through the poly.

Our rooms were huge, quiet and nice, the food is really good and really inexpensive. Three restaurants to choose from, and a cute little bar, that serves VERY in-expensive drinks and snacks. I'm talking like 1.25 for Beers and $2.00 for a highball. The perfect spot to relax after all that walking :drinking1

Our daughter loved the pools too, all in all it was a big hit with us! We look forward to going back next time... (this trip in Dec we're trying the Poly.)

Well i heard the new rooms after the renovation are nice. I had some family stay there 2 years ago and they really enjoyed it. I look forward to having the larger Queen size bed vs. the standard duoble beds found at most resorts. I need the bigger bed as our DD gets fussy at night sometimes and wants to sleep in between us which i really enjoy. :goodvibes

The walk is a nice walk...about 10 minutes with fair sized kids.

You still take the monorail if you take the bus.The bus to MK and Epcot drop you at the TTC and then you have the choice of the momrail/ferry for MK or monorail to Epcot. We have had no problems with bus service to the TTC. Bus service to AK and MGM ....lets just say I choose to drive there!

No, you are not charged parking at any park as long as you are a guest of SOG. Yo will receive a parking pass from SOG when you check in. Just show it to the lot attendent and he will wave you through.

FYI- it is quicker to drive to Epcot then take the bus and monorail.

early in Sept they were still having bus problems. We also did the shady shuttle, they will give you a paper with a number to call when you're coming back. They'll meet you across the st, where they drop off. We didn't have a cell with us so we didn't use it. I did see several groups with strollers both coming and going.

We stayed at the Shades of Green for a week in late August/early September. We walked to and from the Poly several times and it was about a 10 minute walk along a nice, winding pathway near some small lakes. (Never did see any alligators!) But we also found the bus system to be very adequate. The buses ran on time and we were frequently the only ones riding. One night while walking back from the Poly monorail, one of the Shades busses heading to the hotel from the TTC pulled over and the driver motioned for us to get on. How did he know our feet were aching badly after a long day in the park? I thought it was very nice of the driver! The Shady Shuttle also came along several times while we were walking to/from the Poly. Great hotel with great transportation. We were very pleased. ::MinnieMo
