Soft Opening?

What is meant exactly by a soft opening?
I just wanted to know as I'll be at Universal on 8th & 9th June and want desperately to see Shrek 4-D. I know they are doing soft openings from memorial day weekend but will they still be doing them when I go?
I do hope I can see it then as we've decided to take a year out next year to have a beach holiday (so I can laze in the sun!!)

Soft opening allows for a trial run and time to iron out any problems.

From what I can tell there is no guarantee that you are able to ride when they have soft openings. I seem to remember that with Jimmy Neutron soft opening started for Annual Pass holders only.

Hopefully someone will be going this weekend and then we will know for sure whether the rumour that they are starting soft openings this weekend is true. I have still seen that they are only starting soft openings in Hollywood this weekend and not Orlando. Have also see that the official opening date for Shrek is 12th, 15th and 30th June.

A soft opening is sort of like a technical rehersal. It means that the ride or attraction may be open at certain times during the day (may not be all day) and that the ride or attraction can stop at any time for any reason.

We will be there too! Thurs-Tues. I hope they have a soft opening for the holiday weekend. We have AP's and are staying on-site.

During the Annual Pass holder event for the soft opening of Jimmy Neutron they allowed regular guests later in the day after the pass holder event was over.

The grand opening for Shrek 4D is set for June 12th and they will be having a soft opening event once again for pass holders a few days before. The dates for the soft opening are not set yet.
