How are the sofa sleepers at AKV in the studios? Thinking about renting points and staying here, but the kids (girls ages 4 and 6) would have to sleep on the sofa sleeper. Anyone have any pictures/experiences to share? We have never stayed at this resort before, so any information would be helpful! Thanks!

The pull-out couch is adequate for your purpose. Not as good as a bed but a lot better than the ones you get too often in hotels where the rods punch you in the back.

I slept in one with my 3yo. It was really comfortable and there was no bar. Also low enough that I didn't worry about my dd falling off it.

Thank you both! So do all of the studios come with a double sofa sleeper? I have never rented dvc points before, and I am a bit confused on the difference between value and standard studios.

The sofa beds at AKL are the best! Last year we took mom for a split stay AKL / BWV in June and she had the sofa bed in AKL and loved it. I tried it out one morning and it did feel nice - so nice that I wasn't worried about the swap coming when we moved to BWV and WE took the sofa and gave her the bedroom.

I was duped!! The BWV sofa bed was horrible!! The bar of course was painful, but the mattress was worn and thin. The bed got stuck when we tried to open it the first night and we had to lift the whole thing up to get it unstuck.

TIP: unless you reallllyy want to be grossed out, don't lift a Disney sofa bed up and look underneath. toys, clothes, food, dust...alll living together. :scared1:

Back to my original point - the AKL sofa beds are more of a memory foam mattress and are very comfortable.

My kiddos did fine in it. They were 5 and 1. The one yr old only slept with big brother on the last night there. :)

All studios have a queen bed and double pull-out couch. Value rooms are value because they are smaller than anything else. The value studio is 315 sq ft, the standard and savanna view studios are about 359. Value, which are only in the Jambo building, can have parking lot, pool or savanna view (cannot request view); standard at Jambo has pool (most) or partial savanna view (a few); at Kidani standard is road, bus stop, front entrance or pool view and then a small number of partial savanna view (you can request view on those although not guaranteed).

We stayed in a value studio for 6 nights just last month. It was great!!! I know everyone says they are small, but it was plenty big for my family of four. Kids are 4 and 6. We didn't pull out the sofa to make the bed, so I cannot comment on that. Instead, we just pulled the cushions off the back of the couch and used the extra bedding to cover the seat cushions for my DD6. It was plenty wide for her to sleep on! Then we brought a small blowup bed for my DS4.
Enjoy AKV! It is a beautiful resort. :goodvibes

Thank you everyone for such helpful information!

Drusba-I was definitely wondering whether the extra 44sq ft and chance of a better view worth the $.

Also, do you choose Jambo or Kidani during reservation? or does the cm place you in whichever has room available?

czmom--that is great to hear! our daughters are 4 and 6 so I was hoping it would be plenty of room for our family.

goofykc--That is so relieving to hear! i did not want to worry whether the girls would be uncomfortable for an entire week!

You must choose building when reserving and it is guaranteed. The values are all in the front part of Jambo. As to smaller room size, personally I would take the larger room but it is ultimately personal choice. The values are about the same size as rooms at Port Orleans and obviously many who have stayed there have been fine. A real issue you can have with value is getting one. There are not many and they often go fairly quickly once the 11 month reservation window opens for an owner at the resort. You have a 40% chance of getting savanna view with a value. You have less than a 10% chance of getting a partial savanna view with standard.

We got very lucky with our value studio and had an awesome savannah view. We saw zebra, giraffe, and a couple other horned animals. :) I was always wondering what our odds were though. Sounds like we did good!

thank you both for the extra info! I just submitted my deposit with dvcrentals.com and I have my fingers crossed for an AKL studio in mid to late august :)

^That time period is actually a slow DVC time. You will definitely be able to get standard. It is value that is questionable because you are well beyond the 11 month reservation window.

We just checked out of Jambo and our sleeper sofas were incredibly uncomfortable. We kept taking turns
