My daughter's soccer team is looking at doing a Disney soccer tournament next year. Since we will have a lot of us and most are on a budget we are wanting to start fundraising now. I am trying to find info on about how much money each girl will need to raise. Anyone have any information or tips on what we are looking at? Just need to start somewhere. Thanks so much.:thumbsup2

Have been the last three years for the Disney Soccer Showcase. We have DVC and have used twice. Stayed with the team in the hotel once. We travel as families so I can't help with total cost/player.

Helpful tips:
1--You must book hotels through a required travel agency (has been Anthony Travel) and the links will eventually be on the DSS website. But not everyone has to stay at the hotel....you just have to book "some" hotels. You can also ask the travel agency about booking condos....they don't advertise this but can help you with this. If you book condos, you can save $ on meals by eating in.
Price Range = ~$95-$150/night for 2 double/queens (usually includes breakfast)
Suggestion = Book EARLY.....as soon as the application opens up. This will give you the best selection at the best price.

2--If you are flying, book your rental car now....you will need one. Prices in Orlando only go up in my experiences....especially over Winter Break. You may be able to book a last minute car, but have the back-up booked and cancel if you get that lucky. I have never had to cancel my back-up.

3--Either pick up groceries or have some delivered to your hotel....see other parts of DisBoards for those suggestions. Will save some $ there.

4--If you are playing at the actual Disney Wide World of Sports Complex (there are also other fields off site), you must pay to get in. The players and coaches get admission passes....but other family members must pay (like $13/day or $35/length of event pass).

Please feel free to PM me if you have other questions!

It's a really cool experience for the players....and the parents!

Enjoy-

My sons soccer teams have also thought about attending one of these Disney soccer "tournaments."

If we had done it the parents would have just paid the amount necessary to attend.

Just curious, is there a reason other folks would donate to this "fundraising" to pay for your Disney soccer vacation?

Best fundraiser idea is to have a huge garage sale. Have everyone donate stuff and take a shift to work and that will help alot towards the costs. Also look for a sponsor (a local business etc)

See if any resturants in your area have fundrasing nites. Yankee Candle has a program.

Can't help on price as far as per kid but I wanted to suggest that if you have an applebees near you, they do a breakfast fundraiser. We have never made less than 900$ and it's for 2 hours. The team sells the tickets and you only pay applebees for the people that show up. We had each child sell 20 tix at 10$ a piece. Each person that shows up, we paid applebees 5$ and got to keep the other 5$ for the club. If the person who bought the ticket doesn't show up, we got to keep the full 10$. Plus the kids helped clean the tables and alot of the people tipped them, which also helped. Just a suggestion:)

We have sent our DD the last three years to WDW for a tournament. I believe the total cost for her (airline ticket, hotel split with other players, food, van rental split with team, spending money, travel expenses) usually runs around $1500. That is usually flying out Thursday and returning Tuesday. Of the three times that she has gone, she has gone to a park once and that IoA.

My DS team goes every year to the showcase tournament between Christmas and New Year. We carpool/drive from middle TN and share gas expenses. We always stay off-site (you have to use Anthony Travel to book some of your rooms, several of our parents have time shares down there so they don't stay w/ us but the rest of the team does). Not all of the games will be at the ESPN fields, so you won't have entrance fees those days but you will have to pay to get in. I think it's something like $30 per for those days. (the players get a free ticket). All together for our hotel, travel, our share of coach's room and travel, our share of the tournament entry fee (which is super steep at like $1200 or $1500 I can't remember which) it runs us about $1000. Last year I tacked on a couple of Disney days because my DD was with me. This year I did not. My DS is a high school boy and none of those boys have any interest at all in Disney parks, they either want Bush Gardens or Universal so we budget for one day at some other park (cheaper than Disney anyway). Plus it's Christmas time so Disney is slammed busy.

If you have to fly then it will be more. Good luck with your fundraising. If your team is good enough to get into the Disney showcase then you are probably accustomed to the expensive travel anyway.

DD's dance school does a dance workshop at Disney every other year. The girls do several fundraisers to help pay for it. This year, they sold sports cups, 2 yard sales and will bag groceries at a local supermarket for tips. Doesn't pay for the entire trip, but it helps.

In the past they have done can shakes (stand at an interstion in town and collect change from cars). Personally, I don't care for can shakes, but anything they are doing to work for the money, I will try to help them out.

Car washes are also popular if you have a good location.

One other thing, only the kids who participate in a fundraiser gets money in their account from that particular fundraiser.
