Soarin

It will be "Soarin Over the World". This is from the Disney parks blog:

I wish they would leave the California film as at least an option in CA even if it is gone at WDW, but that is not going to happen. You can see there is a response to one of the last questions as to whether Soarin was being replaced completely, that it will be a "totally new experience". I will miss the California version very much, but I am looking forward to seeing the new version. I am going to reserve judgment until I see it, but I sure do love the original music and the smell of those orange groves!

We were kind of getting bored with the old film, but I love your idea in keeping both movies as an option! Yes the orange grove smell is great and we always loved the end going through DL at christmas time (As I believe christmas time at DL is the best and our favorite time to go). However like you I’m excited to see the new version.

I didn't get to ride Soarin last week - it was open Friday when we were there. Fastpasses were gone pretty quick. My husband did, however. He mentioned that the orange smell was NOT pumped in during his ride - he missed it. But, he said the screen did look nicer than 2 years ago (it was closed during our Feb 2015 trip). That would be nice to have the CA film an option - maybe CA line to the left, Soarin over the world line to the right type of thing.

We rode it three times at the end of January and never got the Orange smell :( My niece was very disappointed!

We rode it in Nov. and the orange smells were good.
Maybe they just ran out of the stuff.

Rode it last Saturday and no orange smell for me either. Just figured it was off because of the new movie. Didn't notice the screen being any different either probably because i was to excited to be riding.

I have never seen anyone say for sure that the old Soarin will be gone. I have just seen what the above blog says which is what I heard at the D23 Expo last August (I was in the session when they announced the Soarin changes) - that the new version is coming to DCA and Epcot. It would be entirely possible for DCA to keep one theater for the old Soarin and have the new World version in the other.

Has anyone else seen anything definite on the CA version going away?

:wizard:

I haven't seen anything definite either. We all know how Disney works so much of the time, keeping us all wondering until the 11th hour. I love the scenes in the movie. But it really is the music that touches my heart. To me it would be like having a new song in Pirates. If the old movie is indeed gone, and the music is different, it is going to be such a loss for me!!!

I don't mind them changing the old film (I always felt like the transitions were too jumpy and not smooth enough), but I am sad that the theme will change from "California" to the "World." Disney's California Adventure is themed as a celebration of the state, so it makes sense to have a film that shows off the many places that California has to offer! Having a "World" themed ride fits other Disney Parks' themes, but not DCA's. That's just my opinion, though.
