I seem to remember there being a themed Soap Opera restaurant somewhere at the DL resort.... Where CM's act as the "stars". It sounded interesting, and I'm wondering..What is it called and is it still there??

Thanks!!:D

Soap Opera Bistro is gone. It was replaced by Playhouse Disney. :(

What's really sad about it is that they didn't let it stay open long enough to give it a chance, and California Adventure really needs a fun, inexpensive sit-down restaurant!

Since Soap opera Bistro is no longer, can you suggest any fun themed dining? It is our first trip to DL and we need some restaurant advice. Will be at the GC for four nights! So excited...just booked this an hour ago!:D

Disneyland doesn't have the same type of themed dining that you find at WDW.
The GC has a character breakfast at Storyteller's...the Disneyland Hotel has character dining at Goofy's (more characters, but also more crowded).
California Adventure has Ariel's Grotto...themed, with characters.
Probably the only truly themed restaurant (and it's really good, too) is Blue Bayou, which is inside Pirates of the Caribbean. You definitely need to call Disney Dining and reserve this before you leave home!
Downtown Disney has some good restaurants, too. You'll have plenty to choose from.

That was one of the joys of going on my first trip to WDW. All the dining choices. Disneyland has never been like that except for the Blue Bayou. A couple of the counter service places are nice though. The Plaza Inn serves good food in an "elegant" atmosphere. The French market has a bit of ambiance too.
At DCA they started with a few places. The Soap Opera Bistro was a try at the WDW style but didn't appeal to many people. I love the Sci-Fi Dine Inn and the 50's Primetime Cafe. I love the Liberty Tree Taverns and Crystal Palace etc but the Soap Opera Bistro held no interest for me at all. It was just a choice of theme that didn't work...well the menu was that appealing to me. To many "upscale" items. DCA also has the two restaurants at the vineyard. Downstairs has a bland ambiance and okay food. Upstairs looks fine in pictures, though not "fun" or colorful or astounding and the food is fixed price and the price is high and the food very upscale. I haven't been. Ariels Grotto is more fum with a slight under the sea theme and characters in attendance with good food.
At the hotels, Goofy's Kitchen is good and fun. The Storytellers cafe is a beautiful semi casual place with good food but no storytellers. Napa Rose looks beautiful as well but I haven't tried it yet.
Good food can be had in an okay atmospher at RedD Rocket's Pizza Port where the pizza is just so-so but the pasta and salads are good. Carnation Cafe is halfway down Main St and is a pleasent (though cramped) outdoor cafe for sandwiches, soups and salads.
I hope in the future Disneyland gets a couple more full service restaurants and DCA opens a couple of fun places to go.
